1967 Chrysler 300 Hardtop The first thing to remember, talking about the Chrysler company, is its founder an extraordinary man, whose name was Walter Percy Chrysler. Born in 1875, Walter had a fascinating career. He worked his way up through positions such as a supervisor, a superintendent, a division master mechanic and a general master mechanic. Following the example of Henry Ford, many American businessmen started their own automobile manufacturing companies. In the 20th century, many small automakers were created just to be absorbed by bigger companies. Similarly, the Chrysler was founded by Walter Chrysler on June 6, 1925, when the Maxwell Motor Company (est. 1904) was re-organized into the Chrysler Corporation. For consignment we give you large and in charge, from the era of big Detroit iron where status was measured by the inch, this beautiful example of the Chrysler 300. Sporting its original drive train, vinyl top, very presentable paint, it has undergone an engine rebuild at the 96,000 mile marker. Exterior Plenty of Dark Red Metallic covers the straight and true steel slabs that have been formed to create this stylish example of the 300. Gaps are well minded, and paint, being original, has not lost its luster. Chrome and badging are all original and all looking good. With its loooooong hood, and 4 door passenger compartment (more like apartment) and loooooong trunk, I'm getting ready to move in! An original black vinyl top is nearly perfect, as is the plentiful chrome trim around all the windows, and wheel wells. Within those wheel wells are fantastically preserved turbine style wheel covers with a 300 badged center. Overall a very nice exterior presentation. Interior A swing of the massive but well-balanced doors and we are greeted with pristine panels that have a mixture of black vinyl and horizontal ribbed 300 badged chrome, and some black carpeting on the bottom. Slipping inside we see a large split bench with some tuck and roll and smooth vinyl all in black. Noted on the driver's seat there is a slight tear in one of the seams that reveals the foam padding underneath. Otherwise the seats front and rear are all good. A long GM styled dash with black padded top, and more chrome horizontal ribbed chrome have all the original and functioning controls. Below the dash we note an Audiovox radio and speaker controller and a CB radio, breaker 1-9, break! Black carpet is installed and in good condition as is the headliner above which is nice and tight. Also, a note to the trunk which has its original lining and is very clean and very well preserved. Drivetrain A V8 with 440 cubes pumps out 350hp and is fed by a single 4-barrel carburetor, sits in a clean but original engine bay. Transmission is a correct A727 Torqueflite 3-speed automatic. All looking good in the engine cosmetic department, which screams period correct! Undercarriage Nice straight steel with some surface rusting, good floorpans, wheel wells, and all clear on the mechanical front are seen underneath. Torsion bar upfront, and leaf spring in the rear make up the suspension, and power drum brakes are all around. Drive-Ability This example started right up and drove nicely as expected with a large car as such. Handling is cushy, and because of its size it will not turn on a dime, but cruises wonderfully, providing a very smooth ride. Noted the AC would not blow cold, but all other buttons and knobs function as they should. Mostly original, well kept, rebuilt original engine and transmission, exterior in fine shape, get in, turn the key and feel those 350 horses take you down the road. What more could you ask for?
