Description of 1973 Citroën SM SM |
1973 Citroen SM-A Grand Touring Coupe. Finished in Brown Metallic (#AC427 Brun Scarabee) with Outstanding, upple tobacco leather interior. One of the last cars produced for export toUS(12-73 Production). Equippedthe highly desirable 3.0 Liter (2965 cc) 4 Cam Type C114/04/2-180 HP - 3 /2bbl. 42DCNF WebersV-6 Maserati Engine coupledwith a multiple application Borg Warner T35 3 speed Automatic that performs flawlessly. The Vehicle has been recently sorted with no expense spared as it was set up for my personal collection by a N.E. US Citroen expert. Services performed but not limited to: new suspension spheres, ebuild and sync carburetors, new battery, new proper sized premium tires, C system refurbished /upgraded, ower window brass gears, ervicing of all systems, tc. This SM drives flawlessly with everything working as it should to include cold Air Conditioning. The vehicle has an originalMichelin spare, omplete tool kit, wners manual, hop manual, eriod correct coco mats, ales brochuresand a car cover. The Glass, right metal, eals, arpeting etc. are all excellent. There is no evidence of any past or present collision or rust problems. The first repaint is of extremely high quality with no dings, cratches, hips or touch up on this always garaged example The interior is excellent to include seats, oor & side panels, eadliner and a flawless dash / consolewith no cracks. The vehicle has it's original sound system. These vehicles were exportedtoUS Dealersduring the1972-73model years in small numbers (2,037)and have had a high attrition rate due to neglect and limited knowledgeable repair facilities.Usable examples are uncommon while examples of this caliber should be considered rare. It seemsthat vehicles lost to attrition were not crushed but rather retained for their future parts valuemaking "hard" parts readily available with new "wear" parts available from multiple domestic sources. Recent interest in these amazing cars coupled with rapidly rising prices have allowed the Citroen guru's to become more well known and allowed a better parts supply train to develop. Every drive leaves mequestioning what automotive engineers have been doing for the past 42 years. This is a highly sophisticated motorcar that is a must have for the serious Collector. Ready to be enjoyedtogether withprobable appreciation. Elderly Collector reluctantly selling for health / estate planning reasons. The vehicle is being sold in Auction format - please call 908 872 7356 to discuss specific condition issues only. Pre auction closing previews are welcomed. |
