Description of 1971 Datsun Z-Series |
This is a 1971 240Z. Very rare blue with blue interior. A Z restorer once told me that only 2% of first gen Zs had an interior color other than black. I've owned this car since 1998 when it was three shades of blue and two shades of rust. I've done many upgrades over the years including a 3 liter turbocharged engine. Engine is an L28 bored over to 3 liters - turbo. Engine management is Elelctromotive TEC3, yno tuned at Mile High Performance in Englewood (Denver), olorado. The engine came from another Z that I bought just for the engine. It was built with forged pistons and Total Seal rings. Compression was good (still is) so I put it in this car as it was. I did have the turbocharger rebuilt. Also changed out injectors (RC Engineering), uel pressure regulator, aste gate, low off valve and fuel pump. This engine has been in the car since 2004. Last year I traded out the T4 turbocharger with a T3/T4 hybrid. It winds up faster now. Chassis bits - Transmission is a five speed from a 280ZX. It got a new Centerforce II clutch last year with the new turbocharger. Tokico shocks, ibach progressive springs. Brakes are Willwoods using the kit from Arizona Z Cars. Its an early kit and does not have the hand brake calipers. Wheels are front drive with adapters. Body Work - This Z got the bare metal rust repair treatment in 2004/2005. It had rust in front fenders, uarter panels. No problems in the windshield frame or hatch back. The car was painted in it's original blue and cleared. It was then towed to an air brush guru for the C pillar and tail gate art. Finally it went back tot the body shop and got another clear coat. Ten years on the paint shows some wear. A few scratches that would not be to hard to repair. The worst is a ding and crack in the hood where I closed It on a hose clamp on the intercooler. See photo. The car has an aftermarket AC system. Odometer is at 7470 and counting. It was about 98k when I bought the car so it's really 107470. I have about 100 photos on flickr but eBay won't let me include the link. Go to flickr and search people for elevation8700 (my flickr user name). Shipping is the buyer's responsibility. Of course, 'll help with arrangements on my end. I'd say drive it home instead. $500 non-refundable deposit due within 48 hours of the end of the auction. You'll get the car and title when the balance is in my checking account. This Z is a very nice, trong driver. I never intended to make it a show car. Inspections are welcome and encouraged. The car is currently in Fraser Colorado. I can meet you or your representative in the Denver area. Call Steve with your questions - 970 531 1814. Thanks and . . . BID HIGH!!! |
