Description of 1964 Datsun Other PL312 |
Please contact me at 949 492-8702 with any questions or reasonable offers. I have my personal favorite car up for sale. This is a rare 1964 early Datsun in very nice ORIGINAL* condition. The car has 49. 00 we believe original miles on it. We have much of the previous owners records to support the mileage. The PL312 4-door sedan by Datsun was made in Japan and not a lot of these were imported into the USA. This car started it life in the Rouge River Oregon area. It was a tow car behinds the first owners motor home. They towed it to Mesa Arizona most every winter. hence the low mileage. The second owner was a contractor in the same area and did not use it a lot. The third owner kept it garaged in Rouge River area and kept the maintenance up on the car which again was used very seldom. I purchased it from them to display in my Museum in San Clemente CA. We did several things to improve this car without damaging its originality. Below is a list of what we did:1. Install 4 new Coker 5. 60-13 whitewall tires2. Sand blast and powder coat the wheels to the original Datsun silver color. 3. Replace the brake system. new master cylinder. new wheel cylinders. new shoes. new adjusters. new brake lines. 4. Rebuild the hydraulic brake master cylinder and replace the clutch slave cylinder and hose. 5. Rebuilt the fuel system. boil out fuel tank and re-coat. replace some fuel lines. rebuild fuel pump. add fuel filters. rebuild carburetor. 6. Renew exhaust system from the exhaust manifold back to the tail pipe including the muffler. 7. Replace the seat upholstery front and back and 4 arm rests with contract grade original color Naugahyde with every attention to detail and originality. 8. Restored chrome and paint with compound and wax9. Restore radiator (flush). replace radiator hoses. 10. New plugs. points. nbsp;condenser & cap. New batteryAs you can see we did a lot of work to make this sought after classic a reliable driver. We also collected and original owners manual. shop and parts manual. & sales literature. which is included with the purchase. We licensed the car with California YOM (year of manufacturer) plates and original Woodland Datsun frames. We have shown the car once at the 2014 JCCA Japanese Classic car shown in Long Beach CA and it was awarded first place in its class 1960's Datsuns. I drove it to the show from San Clemente CA and back which is about 120 miles round trip and it "purred like a kitten". The manufacturers literature lists that its top speed is 80 MPH and I took it to 70 MPH on the trip and it was strong. it seems to cruise nicely at 60 plus MPH. The literature also claims that the car will get 42 MPG. since I have tracked it it has been averaging more like 38-39 MPG. which is pretty incredible for a car from this era. This is a car you can drive and show too! It is quite an attention getter where ever you go. plan on some extra time when going shopping. The car sports a 1200 CC motor that puts out 60 horsepower and a 3-Speed manual transmission. all syncromesh. Rear axle gear ratio is 4. 11 to 1. I hate to let this great car go but at my age I have over 30 classic vehicles and plan to semi retire in 2 years so I will be selling them all over the next 24-30 months. I encourage you to come and look at this car. drive it and buy it! This is the original paint. it looks amazing. but it does have some paint chips and paint loss. I can find no visible rust on this car. The front and rear vinyl mats are original and it great condition. The radio delete piece has one brake in it and has been glued back together. All of the gauges / instruments are in good working condition. It has the accessory cigarette lighter. The steering wheel is cracked in several places and I covered it with a gray vinyl cover. ALL of the rubber is original and supple. The front windshield has a crack in it about 9" long. but included in the price is a NOS replacement PPG windshield ($600. 00). All of the doors lock correctly and two sets of keys are included including the factory original key. It has the factory locking gas cap as well as the factory Datsun jack and tool kit in the Datsun cloth wrap pouch. The front fenders mirrors were an option and we found them in the trunk in the NOS boxes. so we installed them. they look very KooL. A non OEM side mirror was removed and two waterproof Pop rivets we installed in the 1/8" holes. The rubber 90 degree heater neck is missing as I found with most of these early Datsuns. Heater and cowl vent still work fine. Because of its age. 50 years old. it is sold AS-IS. WHERE-IS with no warranty expressed or implied. It is the responsibility of the buyer to come and get the car or have a commercial transporter pick it up in San Clemente CA. We will gladly assist in any reasonable manner. The car is currently licensed in California and insured for $50. 00. 00 and we do drive it so the mileage may increased by a few miles before it is sold. I also will include a top of the line synthetic California Car Cover with the PL-312 embroidery on the front with the car ($400. 00+ cover. its as new). This car is stored at out Classic car & truck private museum. Should you have any questions about the car feel free to email me through ebay or call me at 949 492-8702 between 8:00AM to 5:00 PM Pacific Standard time. This is a great car. Brian |
