Description of 1972 Datsun Z-Series |
Well, up for sale is my 1972 240Z. I wasn't planning on selling this but I cannot keep it any longer, family changing situations are forcing me to find her a new home. This is a VERY UNMOLESTED Z, It has less then 53k original miles on the original motor and the motor does run very well and shifts well. I have only put around a thousand miles driving it around town and haven't had any issues. It is an automatic but I will include a 4 speed transmission I was planning on swapping as well as the manual pedals and a clutch master cylinder. The only changes that have been made so far is the radiator which is now an aluminum Champion radiator, the other is obviously the hood. The hood had surface rust on it and I was starting to fix it but have not had time to finish it and properly repaint the original orange. I basically sanded it down almost to bare metal and I then have sprayed 3 coats of SEM primer. The battery is new as of last July. The interior is not in bad shape, the only rips are on the driver seat which shows that this Z has had very little use in the 44 years and it does in fact show original miles, the dash has one very small crack (about an inch and a half), the original radio still works, the antenna still goes up but doesn't go down. All the blinkers and lights work, tires are new but they were put on it about 10 years ago. The paint is not perfect, there are small door dings on both sides of the car but again this is the original paint which is 44 years old. I have waxed the car by hand and the paint could be brought back much better with a good detailing job. As most Zs, this has a few surface rust spots but only 3 rust holes, one is under the passenger seat and the others are on the bottom of the doors. I will include two decent doors that are rust free but are not perfect. You can either use them to patch the original doors or respray and replace. Under the rear hatch is only surface rust spots, battery tray is good and driver side floor is good, frame rails are also good. All glasses are good, no cracks on windshield and all trims for the glass are also there. The two corner ones from the back are inside the ash tray. This is a very solid car. Japanese classic cars have increased a lot in price. I am a big Z fan and will hopefully be able to own another 240Z one day. I believe this is a very fair price for this Z at a low reserve considering that others in good condition have recently sold for over 25k.
