Description of 1967 Datsun Other |
This has always been the holy grail Datsun to me.. I looked non stop for many many years.. they just don't come up for sale to the public often.. especially, unrestored cars. This is a half year factory 2.0L with the solex carbs. It is believed Nissan produced around 1000 of these cars in the latter half of 67 (after some improvements were made and before the car changed to a high windshield car in 68). This is car #427. I found this in Southern California this past summer. It had been garaged, and the gentleman I bought it from said it had been garaged by the previous owner.. it's pretty obvious it has been. It appears to be rust free and I see no sign of previous collision damage in the inner fenders or the rear trunk area. Nice seams. It was however painted from its original color, red.. to black. At that time some body modifications were made.. such as shaving the door handles, filling the body mouldings, and filling the cowl seam.. it was a complete paint and was a "driver" quality job. The car comes with a thick folder of documents from its previous owners..it shows this re-paint happening around 1990.. the car was last registered in 1990 as well. The paint is old and looks better in pics than it is. Don't expect a nice paint job.. Luckily, the car retains its original numbers matching motor. There is also paper work of the motor having been rebuilt somewhere around 1990 as well.. there is a receipt from Nissan for the purchase of the coveted "solex package". The car has the Mikuni Solex carbs on it and comes with its original SU's and air filters. I don't know if it has the "B" cam or not. I removed the spark plugs and poured some penetrating oil in each cylinder.. after letting it soak in, I carefully turned the motor over by hand with the plugs out. It spins freely. I then supplied 12V (battery was relocated to the trunk), the gauges and accessories came to life.. but nothing happened when I turned the key. After a closer look at the starter motor, I believe this and a combination of a steering box issue may have been the reason this car was taken off the road. The starter has a big hose clamp around the solenoid and the steering is very nothcy when turning the wheels. Definitely needs attention. The previous owner had spent some money on new brake components.. it has a new factory master cylinder and I believe he said new wheel cylinders and linings. The oil is on the full mark on the dip stick and looks fine. There is also still antifreeze in the radiator overflow. This is a rare opportunity to purchase a very dry half year factory 2.0L car with its original motor. I know there will be a lot of questions, so please study the pics.. and ask all questions BEFORE bidding. I have no other parts for it other than what you can see in the picture... other than BOTH original keys. The hardtop seen in the back ground belongs to my 66. This car has only a soft top frame with an old top installed on it. I do have a clear California title in the previous owners name. It kills me to list this car.. as I realize I will likely never have the opportunity to own one again.. but, I'm not into restoring cars.. and I can't give up my crusty 66 that is a solid runner. I've set the reserve very low for a car this rare and desireable. So, take this opportunity seriously if you've been looking for one. I am happy to accommodate you or any 3rd party in viewing the car. I can also do a walk around with you over the phone or even face time.. I can take a pic of any part of the car you want with my iPhone and send them to you. PayPal deposit of $500 due within 24 hrs. Balance due via wire or cash within 3 days end of auction. Shipping is the responsibility of the buyer and the car must be picked up within 2 weeks of payment. Please don't ask me what it will cost to ship the car to you.. that is for you to figure out. INTERNATIONAL BUYERS AND NEW EBAY MEMBERS WITH LESS THAN 10 feedback, contact me before bidding or I will likely cancel your bid. Please do your due diligence.. that is your responsibility. I WILL LIKELY BE OUT OF TOWN FRIDAY TILL THE END OF THE AUCTION, SO ASK QUESTIONS EARLY! Thanks for looking.. now, bid to own this very rare car. |
