Description of 1971 Datsun Z-Series

For sale is my 1971 Series 1 Datsun 240Z #16488. I have only owned the car about a month and a half but will attempt to share as much information as I know. This 240Z is in driver condition but needs some rust repairs and paint to be considered a nicer vehicle. It appears a previous battery leaked which damaged the passenger side frame rail and floor pan. The driver's side frame rail and pan are in very good shape as is the trunk/spare tire area. Also the roof has a rust spot where the windshield meets the metal and there are a number of dings in the body which isn't to surprising considering it's almost 50 years old.
During my ownership I have rebuilt the front brake calipers and replaced the front brake hoses. Additionally I tuned up the engine with a valve adjustment, balancing of the carbs using a synchrometer and mixture has been verified with a Gunson Colortune. The engine idles around 800rpm and seems to pull nicely with no smoking on startup and no leaks anywhere. The engine block is unfortunately not the original but a L24 about 1000 units newer with an E88 head on top. Correct Series 1 parts of note are all the original metal body emblems except the hood badge, vertical rear defroster, steering wheel, fuse box, all window glass and I'm sure some others I'm not aware of. Fuel pump and radiator appear OEM and the air injection system is still intact and working. Obvious non original parts are the Panasport Z-Light wheels, aftermarket stereo/speakers and 5 speed transmission. Included receipts from the previous owner indicate $13,494 in repairs from Euro-Japan Auto Works in San Francisco including the wheels/tires, rebuilt trans, clutch hydraulics, suspension and a lot of miscellaneous repairs. All body panels show the factory orange color underneath the current paint. Although the brief ownership has been enjoyable, I've got to sell this car so our new Subaru can go in the garage as I don't have the heart to park the Z outside. The new owner will receive the original owner's manual, original tool kit, jack, next oil filter and a points/condenser set.
