Description of 1970 Datsun Z-Series -- |
Hello there Datsun Z Lovers! Here is your chance to own this Very Rare all original 1970 Datsun 240Z Series 1 with a low VIN number (5468) and numbers matching engine (8010) as well as drivetrain. The rarity of the car extends to the Monte Carlo Redpaint that is mostly original. There does appear to be some minor touch-up spots done in a few places over the years due to overspray in some locations. Paint code 905 (Monte Carlo Red) was only used for the 1970 model year and then changed for the 1971 model year making this the only year it was available. This car also has an original Factory to Dealer installed Air Conditioning installed with the control bezel installed just below the steering column on right side. It has all the very early production options that a early 1970 240Z would have. The rear hatch glass does have the original glass with defroster. I purchased this car about a year ago with the plan to do a full restoration. But like the story goes, I just never got around to it and there are too many other projects that need completed. I would love this unrestored, all original car to go to an enthusiast or collector who will see the project through to completion. The car is in fantastic shape and is probably the most solid all original sheetmetal Datsun 240Z that I have seen for a "barn find" which she is. The car had 4 flat tires when pulled from its storage location. I replaced the tires with 4 new one to get the car rolling. As I inspected the car, I was amazed that there is such little rust on the car with the exception of the floor boards, that the restoration should be very straight forward with the only replacement of sheet metal needed would be a set of new floor boards. The car sat in a very dry barn and was last inspected and registered in Missouri in 1985 as evident by the windshield sticker still intact. Everything is really, really solid with this car and if you're looking for a car with as much originality, then this is the car for you. The engine does not run but turns over by hand and matches the engine bay vin tag. The transmission goes into all gears but like the engine, the mechanical condition is unknown. The car has all of its original glass, emblems, steering wheel, rare head cover, seat belts and tags, original steel wheels with proper date stamps (6/70). There is also some extra parts and wheel covers that go with the car. SERIOUS BUYERS ONLY! PLEASE DO NOT BID IF YOU ARE NOT SERIOUS ABOUT BUYING!
