Description of 1973 Datsun Z-Series Base |
This is a 1973 Datsun 240Z with 62K original miles on the original #s matching engine. 4 speed manual, original 113 green with newer but period correct butterscotch color interior. This RUST FREE California car purchased originally in Gardena CA (Window sticker and original warranty cards, manuals included). I have owned the car since 2008, I have only put a few thousand miles on it mainly on the freeway from my home to Angeles Crest highway for Sunday morning canyon runs. I have not thrashed or raced this car. After owning it for a decade or so, it's time someone else got to enjoy "Ziggy" (cause he's glam from 1973). The car being almost 50 years old has a couple of small dings/dents in the paint work. The paint isn't brilliant it's passable could possibly use a professional touch to improve the surface. There's a small split in the paint (final photo) behind drivers side rear wheel arch by a shallow dent (couldn't get a photo of the dent to come out). It's been there years & is hardly noticeable and hasn't gotten any worse in that time. So I've just left it alone. The front bumper could do with replacement or straightening, itss got a few dents in it. Mechanically its all good. the choke cable only engage the choke but wont disengage it (may just need new cables) but as this car is in SoCal I usually don't use the choke and If I do I manually disengage at the carbs with my fingers. Because of the large cam thats been fitted the idle can be a bit unstable. I choose to just blip the throttle to keep it going at lights but you can always set the idle higher on the carb itself. Car history per the previous owner in 2008 ebay listing: "The original owner made several upgrades to the suspension and engine and then bumped it into a signpost and parked it. The car was stored in a garage for 20 plus years till the owners wife finally “convinced†him to part with it. Since then the minor body damage has been repaired, the car has been completely repainted and the brakes, suspension, engine, electrical have all been gone through. Minor accident required a new hood, fender, light bucket (have pictures of the repair)Chassis was checked on a frame alignment rack. Frame is straight and undamaged!!Headlight buckets have been welded to fenders and flushed in smooth. Entire car sanded and repainted with 2 stage base/clear paint in the original color" DetailsOriginal AM/FM radio and power antenna - both workDealer equipped A/C unit (uninstalled) comes with the car, needs compressor and condenserCoco floor and rear deck mats can also be included but aren't in great shapeDash is cracked in several places so a full hard cap has been installedVinyl on shock towers is torn in several places on drivers sideAll the locks work and the car has the original Nissan factory keysEngine/Drivetrain:Original #s matching L24Performance Cam (have spec sheet)Rebuilt Early SU dual carbsK & N air filter2.25†exhaustPertronix Electronic Ignition in stock distributorOriginal 4 speed and rear-end are in great condition.Synthetic gear oil in both transmission and rear endSuspension, Brakes, Wheels, and Tires:1†Front and 7/8†Rear Sway barsAdjustable Camber Bushings front and rearRare 14X7 period-correct American Racing "Spectre" wheels with 225X60X14 Tires Changes I have made since owning2008 - full dash cover2008 - Installed 3 point seat belts2009 - New 3 row radiator & lower hose2010 - Replaced sway bar bushings with urethane bushings2010 - Installed vinyl side stripes2010 - Installed door weather stripping2011 - New carpets & floor mats (sound deadening added to the floor that was completely rust free)2011 - Installed Xenon front air dam (original painted front valence parts included)2012 - Replaced seat cover and foams2012 - BRE Style spoiler2019 - New fuel pump & pressure regulator2013 - Replaced control arm bushings (OEM)2020 - Hood resprayed flat black The car is sold as-is with no warranty (it's almost 50 years old). |
