THE GOOD
before you ask, am selling this ONLY because i have numerous other ongoing car projects and i need time and space for them. something has to give. this is a great start for an inexpensive Chrysler A-Body musclecar that is quickly rising in value.
1970 Dodge Dart Swinger - rough, ut running, riving condition PROJECT CAR up for auction with no reserve attached. if you are the high bidder, ou get the car. with a little work this could be made a daily driver, ut is not one, resently. with a whole lot of work, t could be made into a really nice cruiser. It has the factory air conditioning, omplete, 318 v8 engine, 04 torqueflite automatic transmission, nd an heavy duty 8 1/4 rear end (not posi). the car still wears its dart hubcaps and an almost new set of bfgoodrich tires. the manual brakes are all functional and have new braided stainless hoses installed. the electronics work, he windows roll up and down.
this is a rust-through free california car. by that, mean, here is plenty of desert surface rust, ut ZERO ROT. its getting harder to find cars with orignal sheetmetal. that being said, here are dents and dings all over this vehicle. the only panels perfectly straight are the roof, he trunk lid, nd the hood. the top surfaces. but all of the rest are repairable. the rustiest part of this Mopar is inside the trunk in the wheelwell for the spare where water collected, ut even that is just cosmetic.
THE BAD points and the upsides to them:
the passenger front vent window was broken out - but a replacement is included with the car
the rear glass was removed in order to clean, andblast, nd prime the roof correctly. - it is still intact, rapped up, nd included with the sale.
the front windshield molding was removed, nd the weatherstripping is partially removed, n order to finish that job. It should be removed fully, nd reinstalled after cleaning and paint. it is still in the car and in fine shape,
NEW SEALS for front and rear windshield are INCLUDED
suspension bushings throughout need replacement, ut are readily available inexpensive parts
the strut rod bushing on the drivers side is the main one needed - and is included with the car
moldings that were removed are all still in the car and included
the transmission leaks rapidly, hen sitting especially, nd this is the first thing needing repair before much driving. i believe the leak is between the engine and trans. the Dart drives and shifts fine with fluid in it
it could use the usual tune up stuff: plugs checked, oints, ap, otor, nd carburetor serviced.
there is a crack in the center of the grille, nd small broken portions around one headlight but nothing that cant be repaired.
the front fender extensions both have damage, ut replacements can be found, r the repairs again are not difficult. i also have later pot metal pieces that are available to the buyer at extra cost
the rear bumper is bent, he front looks fine.
the dash was cut for an aftermarket radio... there is no upside to that
if you have questions about things not covered here, r by looking over the pictures, ust ask.
would i expect it to drive reliably/safely from los angeles to: xxxx NO, WOULD NOT. i do not drive this car on the freeway AT ALL in its current state because of the wandering front suspension mostly (new bushings needed). i drive it on low speed neighborhood streets carefully and am not suggesting you do any more than that. anything you do is at your risk. all i will guarantee is that it drives well enough to go down the street and onto a trailer or tow truck to be transported home. this is a running PROJECT CAR
im not anxious to be rid of this car, ut its time for a new home, hile i prioritize to other projects. thanks for looking, ood luck.
