Description of 1968 Dodge Charger |
!!!!!!!!!NO RESERVE!!!!!!!!!! 1968 Dodge Charger. This is truly one of the rarest cars I have owned in a long time as there were only {THREE} built with the 318 3-speed manual transmission, olumn shift. Some say there were more than 3 made but everyone agrees that less than 25 exist. in 1967 Mopar put out a advertisement flyer listing the 318-3 peed manualcolumn shift option for 1968, ut then they rolled out a few and decided not to make any more that way. The parts for the column shift were later used on 1969 6 cylinder chargers and darts. Due to the production date, y charger could possibly be the first one built in it's group. I attached a photo of the fender tag and vin so you can do your own research. It is complete, all original car. Ipurchasedthis car several years ago from a collector who had it stored for over 35 years and he was the second owner. The car was running and complete when I took it apart to begin the restoration. When I realized how rare the car was, decided topreserve as much originality as possible. You will not find another charger like it.A true collector car. I contacted Mopar and they told me that you will not find production numbers on 1968 Dodge Chargers with the 318 and three on the tree manual transmission, olumn shift. That data was lost years ago (likely in the fire at the Mopar plant). However, can tell you that probably less than 100 Chargers were built that way. It is more common to find 1968 Chargers with the /6 and that transmission than with the 318. It is a rare Charger that should be preserved by someone who cares about the matching numbers.... Thischarger has the original fender tag that shows it was rolled out Jan 15, 968 with Racing Metalic Green paint, hit Vinyl top, hite interior bucket seats with gold trim, M radio, 18-V8 Motor and a 3- Speed manual transmission column shift. I have over 18k invested in just the bodywork and paint. This charger has always been a California car and the buyer will need to makearrangements to pick it up in Orange CountyCalifornia. I have tons of photos of the car and the restoration process which I will provide to serious buyers upon request. This charger has always been a California car and the buyer will need to makearrangements to pick it up in Orange CountyCalifornia. I have tons of photos of the car and the restoration process which I will provide to serious buyers upon request The car was stripped down to the bare metal and we replaced, earquarter panels (AMD outer skins onlyto preserve the matching numbers),replaced the entire trunk andinnerwells with brand new AMDcomplete trunk, xtensions and wells. Wealso replaced the front section of the passenger's side floor with AMD floor skin. The rest of the car was worked by an old school body man using real tools and very little body filler. When the car was perfectly straight, t was sealed using the highest quality materials and sprayed with a two stage original Mopar METALLICRACING GREEN Matrix paint. The top was sealed and painted with only base coat and no clear was applied with plans toinstall the Vinyl Top. The car was painted two months ago, ugust 2015 and it still needs to be color sanded and buffed. We added the real original rear white racingstripes which are painted under the clear coat. The car has brand new original 14" Rally racingwheels with newtires. I have everything to put this car bak together; lights, umpers, nterior, moldings, ash, ndeverything else that was removed when I began the restoration. I put theengine back in the car but it will need to be put back together. Thetransmission comes with the car but it is not installed at this time. Theunderneath was sand blasted andprofessionally coated with black rubberized protective coating. All of the original suspension and wiring is still installed and in good condition. We did not find any serious rustissues with this car and anything that was not repairable with a hammer was replaced withoriginal AMD Mopar metal. The previous owner added a Hurst floorshifter but the original column and shifter are still present. The twolinkagerods are not present but they are a common part andavailable new or used. All of the parts includedwith this car are original used parts and you will need to clean, estore or replace the parts depending on how picky you are about the restoration. The major work has been completed and this will make agreat Father/Son garage project to put thebeautiful piece of history back together.Thank you for checking out my listing and good luck. any questions please jca024@yahoo.com or call / text 949-872-454, ontact john A $500.00 paypal deposit will be required fromthe winning bidder and it will not be refunded if you cancel the transaction.please contact me with questions. |
