Description of 1941 Dodge Power Wagon |
You are looking at a 1941 Dodge Power Wagon. This is a ½ ton WC T-211 Second Series. This old Power Wagon has the 264.5 cubic inch Chrysler Spitfire flathead six engine, also known as a “25 inch motor” they made these specifically for Power Wagons from 1952-1968. The Spitfire was the biggest 6 cylinder motor, with 119 horsepower and 218 pounds of torque! No oil leaks. 4 speed manual transmission with high range four wheel drive only, with a 4.89 axle gear ratio. All the drive train works, excellent clutch, no noise in the transmission or the rear end. The motor runs good, no knocks and doesn't miss, but its getting low on compression, but still has a lot of power with the bigger Chrysler motor. This truck has 14 inch brake drums, with all new brake shoes, brake lines, brake cylinders, master cylinder, and new wheel bearings and seals. All the boxes were drained and filled with oil. The motor oil was changed. We put in new plugs and wires, rebuilt the carburetor, installed a new water pump, and replaced all the hoses. The gas tank was removed, boiled, and a new liner was installed. This old Dodge still has the original honey-comb radiator, and it is in excellent condition, and we filled it with fresh antifreeze. The cab is in excellent shape, with no rust in the floor or body. The windshield has a newly restored frame, with new glass and rubber seals. The doors have new glass, and the regulators were restored recently. The front seat is stock and recently restored as well. This old Dodge has the front blackout marker lights mounted on the fenders and the 2 piece chassis wiring harness with the bakelight junction block. All the lights work except for the blackout lights. The oil and temperature gauges work, the oil pressure gauge works (and reads 40 psi when running), The windshield wipers are all there, and they try to work, but I haven't messed with them much. The heater works good. These ½ ton trucks were made to run duals on the back. I have all 6 original wheels, that are stamped 1941 on them, which is very rare. The front tires are good, and the rear tires are in fair condition. The body on this truck is very good for the year. Not rusty. The bed is from an older Ford truck, with Ford truck rear fenders, it does has some rust in it, but looks really cool on the back of the Power Wagon. The flare box and gas can are original. The grill, hood, and front end are in excellent shape. These first Type A army trucks are very rare and hard to find in this shape. This truck is very drive-able and can be used as is, or would also be an excellent candidate for a restoration project.
