Description of 1964 Dodge W200 Series military |
1964 Dodge w200 power wagon Ambulance. After its time in the army the truck went on to serve the fire department at the McDonald observatory for many years than sat for 10 years as a storage unit. I purchased the truck in 2016 and made it my driver for a year, but then a string of motorcycles, and other old trucks distracted my attention and it has mostly sat again during 2018. The truck is all stock except electronic ignition that looks just like original. It has 4 new 8 x 17.5 tubeless tires. The truck starts right up, runs good and shifts well including 4wd. The lights and signals work, so does the horn and wipers. I replaced the heater core, belt, hoses, voltage regulator, battery, ignition and tires to put it into service. The speedometer recently stopped working and the hand brake needs to be relined. The drivers side door glass is cracked but working and all other glass is good. The ambulance has the 3.7 liter, leaning tower of power under the hood and 4.88 axle ratio from the factory so top speed is about 55mph. I live 18 miles from the grocery store and about 40 miles from Alpine and it made the trip today with no problem. It loves the steep mountains and low speed limits where I live. I added a photo of a restored Air Force example. I assume mine was Army by the paint on the dash and under the hood. Thank you for looking. |
