A real gem. Call (760) 702-4085. This beautiful, "Golden Anniversary 1914-1964" edition, 1964 Dodge Polara 500 convertible was purchased in the early 1980's for my dad's birthday present with 42,000 original miles. My dad purchased his original 1964 Dodge Polara convertible in the fall of 1963 off the showroom floor. My 3 brothers and I learned how to drive on his Polara convertible and we all drove it through our high school and college years. By the time the last of the kids were off and married, and my dad got to enjoy his Polara convertible, the car had over250,000miles on it. Thus the replacement Polara 500 convertible for his birthday. Dad truly enjoyed the "new" convertible and I inherited it back in 1992 with 46,000 miles on it. This car features the 500 option which includes the special badging, bucket seats, center console, automatic shifter on the floor, upgraded bright dash trim, upgraded wheel covers, and six tail lights (versus the 4 on lesser units). Cars like this one were Dodge's premium models in 1964, with a limited build quantity. Out of less than 65,000 1964 Dodge Polaras assembled, just 2,976 were convertibles, and in an added bit of scarcity, this one was optioned with the Polara 500 trim group. So this is a very unusual and seldom-seen automobile. Survivor cars, as this 1964 Dodge Polara 500 convertible, are in high demand & are easy drivers, easy to maintain, and remain solid investments. The early (1962-1964) Dodge Polara 500 convertibles are considered by many to be the best body style that Dodge produced. The name Polara is a reference to the Polaris Star in a successful marketing ploy to appeal to the excitement surrounding the Space Race. The body is clean, long, and very straight with a bright white repaint. The paint job is outstanding having been completed several years ago by a renoun collector car shop in Palm Springs, California. The car has been in the Palm Springs, California and Bullhead City, Arizona since my dad's passing. The Polara 500 is powered by a 383 cubic inch original stock V-8 with power transferred to the rear wheels by its original stock automatic transmission with the stick located in the upgraded center console. The car drives smooth & effortlessly with stock power steering & power brakes. With seating for 5 with the wind in your hair as you cruise the beach or a curvy mountain road.
