Description of 1971 Dodge Charger |
Desirable Mopar muscle car projects are becoming as rare as hen's teeth, and few if any are as complete, original, highly optioned, still driving, and come with as many parts for restoration as this one. This will make the perfect winter restoration project for some lucky buyer. Or, just drive it as is for now, as the car gets tons of attention anywhere it goes because it is so original and unmolested. I have over 110 photos of the car for those interested, plus the video at the url listed below. Please read the entire description, then call or email with additional questions. Doug - 913-461-4890 NOTE: Please don't @ me telling me this isn't a Super Bee. For Pete's sake, do 45 seconds of Googling before making yourself look like a fool. "WM23" in the VIN means it's a Super Bee, period. You would not believe the number of armchair Mopar experts who can't seem to figure that out. This is a highly optioned, 2-tag car. Only the 2nd tag still remains, but in the folder full of documentation is a dot matrix copy of the original tag with the original codes listed. There is also a dox matrix copy of the original window sticker with all the original pricing information. There are also parts and maintenance receipts going back to the 1970s. Options on this car include: * N96 Ramcharger hood that is fully functional, including the inside switch* Factory electric hideaway headlights, also fully functional* High Impact EV2 Hemi Orange original color. I believe car to be 90%+ original paint.* 3.55 Sure Grip rear end* 727 Automatic transmission (starting to slip in 3rd gear when under heavy load)* Power steering* Power disc brakes* Bucket seats in optional salt and pepper cloth* Console* Chrome racing mirrors* Very rare AM stereo recorder mounted to top of console (missing a couple small pieces)* Hood pins* Rallye gauges, all of which appear to work, including tachometer.* 15" rallye wheels with correct caps and trim rings. I have not checked in the door panels or under rear seat for a buildsheet, so assume it's not there, and if you find it you'll have a nice bonus on your hands. Car has typical Mopar rust down low, but has perfect doors, excellent hood, trunk floor, frame rails, etc. It was factory undercoated. Minor rust in lower fenders, quarters, bottom of rear window, and one small spot each on driver's floor pan near bright light switch and trunk floor on driver's side near wheel well. Extra parts include a pair of original rear quarters, 3 original 71 fenders, extra trunk lid, extra front bumper, extra hideaway headlight doors, motor, and metal connecting rod, very nice machine gun tips, extra rear seat, lots of extra exterior bright trim, interior trim, chassis and service manuals, plus an original Chrysler dealership 3 ring binder that's 3" thick with exploded views of all the parts. You will need a full size pick up bed to accomodate all of the extra parts this car comes with. There's also a very rare and uncracked rallye gauge faux wood applique included. Interior is complete and very original, from headliner to carpet, but like the rest of the car, does need some restoration. Door panels are nice, windows all go up and down and seal well, doors open and close perfectly, and all gauges, wipers, lights, etc work except for the horn and original AM radio. Motor runs strong, idles great, and drives well, and has been driven extensively this past summer. But, it does need restoration inside and out, as this car has never been touched. Would make for a great documentary, reality tv show, or multi-stage YouTube video restoration because the car is both so unique and so unmolested and original.
