Description of 1970 Dodge Challenger T/A |
REV! Muscle Cars | eBay Template
Go-Mango, White Top, White Interior from the factory. It is documented by the original Fender Tag and factory Broadcast Sheet Not too many desirably optioned, High Impact/High Contrast color combination cars that you can still actually drive and enjoy. It also retains its original, numbers matching drivetrain, including the engine and transmission. It was also professionally inspected by noted T/A and AAR expert, Jeff Bangert. Most Challenger T/A's like this have been restored to Trailer Queen status. This example has been owned by the same person for over 20 years and is a testament to how these cars were driven, enjoyed, and incrementally restored so they could continue to be driven and enjoyed. If you are looking for a car that is real, and really well documented, and you want to put your foot in it without feeling any guilt- well, this car is a good fit. The vehicle is garage kept, stored properly over winters, driven in only dry, sunny conditions, and has been recently serviced. If you are looking for a desirably optioned example that you can drive for a while and send to the restorer next time, they have a slot open, then this is an ideal candidate. This T/A last received a driver-quality restoration in the 1990's, but has never been blown completely apart. According to the inspector, the car retains most of its OEM body panels. There is evidence of an older front-end collision repair. The front fenders are OEM, but are '71. The hood is OEM. Front grill, bumper, and lights are replacement units. The radiator support was also replaced, the inner fender aprons are original, driver side shows signs of being worked, the cowl is original and factory body VIN intact. The Fender Tags are also original. The driver's side quarter panel appears to have also been replaced at some time during its life. The floorboards, trunk pan, passenger quarter panel, doors, rear bumper, roof, and rear trunk lid all appear to be original to the car. Even the door VIN label appears to be original. The front windshield has been replaced, as commonly found. The door glass, quarter side glass and rear backlight are original. The white vinyl roof is in good condition, showing patina consistent with age, but no significant tears or seam failure. The interior presents as correctly optioned, H6XW for the car, complete with the C16 console and A62 Ralley Gauge instrument panel. The R22 AM Radio with 8 Track is also present and accounted for. The was also restored some years ago. The door cards and rear trim panels are OEM, black pieces that were dyed white, a common practice before high quality white panels became widely available. The seats are in very good condition with no significant signs of wear. The headliner is intact and in good color. The most significant flaw in the interior is a crack on the passenger side door panel near the upper door edge, invisible when the door is closed. You will also note some fine scratches in the simulated woodgrain immediately to the left of the Speedometer. The inspector tested all interior lights and dash accessories, they all are in working order, aside from the clock. The undercarriage is solid and dry, still wears the factory undercoating; shows no signs of alteration aside from mounting holes from a trailer hitch. The exhaust is an original style reproduction. The car was born with 3:55 gears. The rear is currently loaded with 3:91's, the original ring resting safely in a box. The inspector noted that the shocks were dry, exhaust is in good condition, finding no wet spots under the car. A test of the lights noted all operation, with the passenger rear out, which was promptly remedied with a new bulb. He noted that the brakes needed adjustment. They were checked, serviced and adjusted immediately following inspection. Upon inspecting the tires, he remarked that they are in likewise good condition. The trunk is in good order, containing all the appropriate accouterments, including the ever sought-after mini-spare.
