Description of 1966 Dodge Charger

I purchased this vehicle in August and was going to get a new paint job, but now my wife and I are expecting our first child. Now I have to sell. I just put a new battery on. Below is what the guy's description before me and what he all did.

This Charger is ready to go. I have had it for seven years and have put in a lot of time and money to make it easier to own than the many old cars I’ve had before. It is comfortable to ride in, runs well, and has great steering and braking. I've listed below the many upgrades and new parts on this car including power disc brakes, updated power steering.

I have fixed the two big trouble spots on the ’66 and ’67 Chargers: the rotating headlights and the electroluminescent dash lights. The gauges have also been rebuilt and are all working. It was very expensive but worth it. All these things work: windows, wipers, horn, door handles, turn signals, head lights, tail lights, brake lights, hood release, etc. Paint and body work are not that great when you get up close. The doors, trunk, and hood all shut cleanly and in good alignment with the body.

I want a happy buyer so please ask questions. Look at all the pictures so you can see what looks good and what doesn’t. This is not a restored car and this is a final sale, as-is. It has flaws and you should assume nothing is perfect. I don't know the true mileage. Buyer is responsible for transportation but I will be available to meet the transport company. International shipping is no problem...I have done it twice before.

The work that has been done in the last 7 years:

-Under the hood:

  • New front disc brakes
  • New power brake booster and master cylinder (CPP) and all brake lines (hard and flexible) except the one running from the front to the back of the car.
  • New alternator
  • New power steering box that is a modern rebuild for a firmer feel than the pinky steering of old Mopars
  • Radiator was re-cored not long before I got the car
  • New very powerful battery (since the pictures were taken)
  • New starter
  • New voltage regulator
  • Rebuilt carburetor
  • New washer pump
  • New hoses and belts
  • K&N air filter
  • High-quality plug wires
  • Rebuilt headlight motors
  • New headlight relays. I simplified the very complicated headlight system: lights on and off with the dash light switch and the headlight motors are controlled by a switch under the dash. Just push and hold one way to open and the other way to close.
  • Valve adjustment
  • Cooling system flush
  • Oil system flush
  • New chrome fan shroud (never installed)
  • -Interior

  • Rebuilt gauges
  • Restored electroluminescent gauge lighting and shifter lighting
  • New gauge surround and glove box face
  • New chrome armrest bases, armrests, and interior door handles
  • New carpet
  • New aluminum center-piece in console.
  • New window felts inside and outside of all windows
  • All window regulators cleaned and lubricated
  • New fuse box with modern plug-in fuses and set up so that most fused items have their own fuse
  • Wires have been run from the dash to the trunk for future use (lighting, speakers, etc.)
  • New headlight switch
  • New ignition switch
  • I have a Painless brand battery kill switch under the hood that is operated by a dash switch. I put it in for anti-theft but I always use it now since there is a slow electrical drain on the battery (I believe it is in the headlight relays but I never looked very hard)
  • Other:

  • New gas tank and sending unit (gas gauge shows the amount of gas accurately but the top half of the gauge does the first quarter of the tank and the bottom half of the gauge does the other 3/4 of the talk
  • Newexhaust pipes andstainless steel mufflers
  • New shocks
  • New wheels and tires
  • New wheel bearings
  • New exterior door handles
  • New headlights and new bulbs in all exterior lights
  • Passenger side door exterior lock doesn’t work
  • Extra items (see pictures):

  • Unused seat cover sets: one set for the front, two sets for the back - some yellowing
  • Misc interior and exterior trim pieces
  • Owners Manual and Shop Manual with Charger supplement
  • Rare Extra Trim, Rare Extra Console Lid
