Ford Thunderbird (fourth generation)For 1964 the Thunderbird was restyled in favor of a more squared-off appearance, hich was mostly evident when viewing the car from the side or rear. Hinting at its roots in the previous generation Thunderbird that it evolved from, he new model retained a similar grille design with dual headlights and a 113.2 inches (2,875mm) wheelbase. As before, he new Thunderbird continued to be offered in hardtop, onvertible, nd Landau versions. The 300 horsepower (220kW) 390cuin (6.4L) V8 continued as the standard engine for the Thunderbird. It was paired with a 3-speed automatic transmission. For 1965, equential turn signals were added, lashing the individual segments of the broad, orizontal tail lights in sequences from inside to outside to indicate a turn. Also new for 1965 were standard front disc brakes, nd doubled sided keys.Even though it was the last year of the generation, 966 saw a stylistic revision for the Thunderbird highlighted by a new egg-crate style grille with a large Thunderbird emblem at its center and a new rear fascia with the brake lights restyled to appear as one unit. The Town Landau was body style 63D, f which 35,105 were built during the 1966 model year. The 428 was optional. It had the same 428 cubic inch engine horsepower as the original Shelby Mustang 428 thus had more power then the standard 428 or the 390 offered in T-Birds.Of course the weight of the T-bird kept the power to weight ratio lower then the Mustang but still made for spirited performance for a luxury car of the day.Q-Code is a high performance engine. The Landau package included a special rear seat configuration, lus other equipment that was not included in the base car. !Q-code engines are not common to begin with, nd to find that with the luxury package is likely very uncommon indeed.ASK QUESTIONS BEFORE BIDDING!!!
