Description of 1956 Ford F-100

1956 Ford F100 Big Back Window. This is a Southern California truck that I have owned for almost 22 years. I purchased this when I was in the military stationed in central California. This came off a farm in the San Joaquin Valley and to the best of my knowledge I am only the 3rd owner. This truck has been pampered by me. Always garaged and has never been in salt. Body is all steel and very solid and clean as is the frame. Has a BMW style front tilt hood kit. The paint is 22 years old and shows it's age up close. There are a couple of minor rust spots coming through on the bottom of the doors. Still looks good from a distance and has been aconsistent trophy winner at local car shows. Interior is mostly stock with gray tweed that I fabricated and installed about 19 years ago. Has a tilt column from a 1969 Thunderbird. Has a new interior heater core that works great. All windows, eals and trim are in excellent condition. Fuel tank is in the original location and has been interior sealed.Modifications include the following: Motor is a strong low milage Ford 351 Windsor with Edlebrock manifold and 4-barrelcarburetor, eaders and an FMXtransmission (see mechanical issues below) with a Lokar shifter. Radiator is a newer original style 4 core with transmission cooler.I have installed all new Heidt's suspension with help from a professional race car chassis builder. Front suspension is Heidt's Superride II with welded cross member, ubular A arms, hrome coil overs, ack & pinion steering and sway bar. Rear suspension is Heidt's Polished Stainless Steel 4-Link with chrome coil overs and a new Ford 9 inch rear end, inters hubs and 4:11 gears.Brakes are upgraded to power disc all around. Wiring is updated with a new under dash fuse panel. The bed has a 4 inch fiberglass tub and good solidcustom fabricated red oak with Pro's Pick polished stainless steel bed strips with hidden bolts.Wheels are American Eagle with Toyo low profile tires. Very low milage. 20 inch on the rear and 18 inch on the front.Mechanical issues: The Ford FMXtransmission is nearing the end of it's useful life. I had it gone through about 5 years ago and was told it would probably not last too much longer. Last summer it began making "uncomfortable" noises. It will still drive but I have not taken it out because I do not trust it to last much longer. These trucks are easy to work on with plenty of room under the hood. I have pulled & replaced this engine/tranny several times by myself. If I keep it I will probably replace the FMX with a C4.
