Description of 1954 Ford Other

I have finally decided to let one of my "toys" go. What you're looking at here is a 1954 Ford Crestline four door sedan. I have owned this car for several years and while I have had a blast with it, t's time to send it to a new home! As you can see in the photos, he car is not in perfect condition by any means, ut it's certainly a good starting point for someone looking for a winter project. The car runs surprisingly well for it's age. The last thing I did to it was have new points/condenser put in it and it's running great, r well it was until someone stole my gas tank from the trunk! The original gas tank (which is still attached to the car) leaked when I purchased it so I re-routed the line into the trunk and temporarily hooked up a boat gas tank to it. This served me very well and I drove the car all around town like that with no problems. In fact, he mechanic who replaced the points and condenser couldn't believe how well the old car actually run! It has it's original Ford V8 (239 CI Y-Block I believe), il bath air cleaner, nd it's still set up for 6 volt. The battery is shot so I removed it (will need a new battery before being started.) The tires are practically brand new, fter I purchased the car, s soon as I unloaded it from the trailer at home, ne of the old dry-rotted tires immediately deflated. To remedy that I purchased four brand new tires and had them mounted. At the same time, had the oil changed with Non-Detergent oil. I have put less than 200 miles on the new tires and oil since I had that completed.
As I stated above, he car does need some work, ostly cosmetic. The interior is in rough shape, he seats are covered in blankets and will need completely reupholstered, ut the original frames are still there so the new owner will have that to go by. The door panels are in good shape, ust need cleaned up somewhat and the dashboard is in good shape. The floors will need attention, hey feel solid under my feet in both the front and back, ut I have noticed some holes up close to the door openings that tell me it's going to need patched at the very least, ut probably some new sheet metal would be the best idea. As you can see this model is a factory radio delete model, nd has the radio delete plate in place. The factory FoMoCo clock is in the dash, ut not working. I have seen sites on the internet that rebuilds them, r you can find them online occasionally for sale.
Moving on to the exterior, he car has quite a bit of surface rust from sitting outside all the years I have owned it. There are some tiny pinholes on the front fenders that will need filled, ut overall it's not totally rusted out. The front and rear bumpers are getting some rust on them as well, ut it doesn't appear to be extremely deep, o they could be cleaned up and it driven as is, r they could be rechromed if you wanted to go that route.
My original plan for the car was to sand down the outside and give it a quickie paint job, eplace the seats with bench seats from a donor vehicle (like a mid 90's Ford Taurus, tc.) replace the gas tank, nd turn it into a daily driver. Unfortunately, ime and money have not allowed me to do that. In addition to that, y wife also surprised me a couple of years ago with another vintage car that is in awesome condition, o I have focused all of my effort into it and this one has sat. Overall, he car does run and drive and stop just fine, nd it's still certainly a worthy car to fix up, just have come to the realization that I will not be the one completing this restoration and I don't want to see it sit another winter and continue to rust away!
I'm including several photos of the outside, ngine bay, nd interior shots, ut if you have any questions, r would like specific photos, lease let me know. Oh yes, ou will notice that the right driver's hubcap is missing, t flew off one day while I was driving it, ut in the back of the car in one of the photos you will notice a box, here are three spare hubcaps in that box and will go along with the new owner. I do have a title for the car, owever it is not in my name, never signed it over, ut from what I've been told (at least in Kentucky) as long as it's signed, ue to the age of the car, ou shouldn't have any trouble getting a new title for it or get it registered to drive.
Now on to the technical stuff. First and foremost, will NOT ship the car, don't have time to fool with arranging shippers, tc. If you purchase it and wish to have it shipped, ou will have to make all arrangements, can then give the keys to the owner of the repair shop it's sitting at and he can pass them onto the pickup person. Otherwise, would MUCH rather prefer a local pick-up of the car.
