Description of 1937 Ford Cabriolet |
While we can't explain the phenomenon, t seems that there are guys out there who will spend huge piles of money to have a professional shop build these incredible rods, hen sell them while they're still almost new. This 1937 Ford roadster is just such a beast. Built by the guys at Coast to Coast down in Miami, t's a dazzling creation with just 4875 miles on the build. If you're ready to collect trophies, his fascinating car might be the shortest path to that goal. The fiberglass body combines styling elements of the '36, 37, nd '38 Fords, ut it has become something unto itself in the process. Still retaining the slick Art-Deco look of the original, ut now sporting a serious attitude, here's no question this is a high-end piece. Finish work is quite impressive, ith no way of telling that this is a 'glass body without rapping your knuckles against it. The paint is what you'd expect from a shop famous for its outrageous finishes, ith a shine that's about a mile deep and no wild graphics to distract you from the cool shape of the slick cabrio. The Sherwood Pearl paint is two-stage House of Kolor urethane, o it'll look great practically forever, nd the color is a nice change from all the red and black rods you see everywhere you go. Suicide-style doors have been shaved of any external handles, nd the front grille is beautifully rendered in polished stainless. From any angle, his car looks amazing. The investment continued inside, here a gorgeous tan leather interior delivers show-stopping looks. Heavily bolstered power buckets feature flame-pattern inserts for contrast, nd the door panels were sculpted to match the swopping fenders and dramatic bodywork. A custom center console was fabricated and houses the controls for the Vintage Air A/C system, he shifter, nd the Alpine AM/FM/CD stereo head unit. Green-faced Auto Meter gauges give the drive a complete view of what's going on under the hood, nd that's a custom Budnik banjo-style steering wheel on a tilt column. The trunk is just as beautifully finished, ith full carpets and "Dragonfly" embroidery, hile the top is a lift-off Carson-type piece that looks awesome when it's installed. The whole point of this car is to look good, ut that doesn't mean it isn't entertaining to drive. Thanks to an all-aluminum LS1 Chevy V8, t has the right sound and with all the chrome and polished aluminum in the engine bay, t'll knock 'em dead at shows. The basics include a painted intake and coil covers, polished aluminum throttle body, nd a big aluminum radiator up front. The transmission is a 4L60E 4-speed automatic overdrive spinning a 9-inch Ford rear, hich has been the powertrain of choice for decades. This one also features a fully boxed frame, ubular A-arm front suspension, ilwood 4-wheel disc brakes, nd power rack-and-pinion steering, o it drives like a modern piece, ot a vintage relic. It's got the right hot rod bark, oo, omplements of a chromed and polished Flowmaster exhaust system that fits beautifully. That raked stance comes easy, hanks to a set of staggered Budnik billet wheels wearing 205/45/16 front and 285/40/18 performance radials. If you've drooled over the pro-built rods in magazines, ere's your chance to put just such a machine in your garage for a fraction of the build cost.
