Description of 1963 Ford Galaxie |
1963 Ford Galaxie 500XL 2 Door Hardtop Sedan. The XL stands for “Extra Luxury” according to Ford. Engine is a 390 V-8 330 HP with a 4 barrel. This car runs fast and tough! The transmission is a T-10, 4 speed manual. It comes equipped with power steering and power brakes. The car has a 2 year old aluminum radiator, twin electric fans, high velocity water pump, alternator and Serpentine belt. It has an electronic ignition, a tachometer and LOTS of CHROME! The exterior is a gorgeous Viking Blue Metallic with Light Blue leather interior. The bucket seats are in excellent condition and the interior was replaced with NOS interior parts. The carpets, dash and door panels are all in great condition. The console is really nice and in good condition. The exterior has some damage to the side chrome moldings along both sides (see photos), but can be repaired with the right source doing the work. The paint is good and the interior is in very good condition. It is mechanically sound and runs like a champ. Chrome wheels and good tires. The air conditioner blows cold air. It has a new Billot Chrome AC compressor. The radio works, as well as the other features of the car. Repairs done in the last few years: Engine and transmission was rebuilt professionally with steel valves. New carburetor, new fuel tank and exhaust, cast iron stock headers. The flywheel was resurfaced, new clutch, pressure plate, throwout bearings. Front suspension replaced. New positraction differential. Front disc brakes have been replaced. This car has been mechanically rebuilt from almost front to back! This Galaxie has been in many shows and has always drawn the admiration of the most discriminating collectors. It’s a fun car to drive and always turns heads. I am an avid car collector and this Galaxie has been in my collection for years. It has been in a climate controlled garage the whole time. I am very particular about my cars and have always maintained them well. I am just downsizing my collection at this time. If you have any additional questions, let me know. |
