Description of 1967 Ford Mustang Base Fastback 2-Door

RARE 1967 K -code 4 speed Ford Mustang Fastback Barn Find.

Up for your consideration is a one owner 1967 Ford Mustang K-code fastback. This is the first time this RARE car has been offered to the public. This car has the same engine as a GT 350 Shelby, but is much more rare.

There is no buy it now on this car. It is very difficult to put a price tag on this car as there really isn't anything to compare it to. I know what "done" cars are bringing, and I know what it costs to have one restored the correct way. But what one can not factor in is the new buyer....the new buyer could either be a guy who is going to restore it himself, or a guy who can't do the work himself and has to pay someone to do the entire car. I believe that all of the original body panels are usable on this car. The quarter panel on the driver side was hit and replaced early in the cars life sometime prior to 1981 and was replaced with an OEM panel.

I know, all you Ford guys are going blah, blah, blah, just get to the auction. We want to get as much for this car as we can and have no way of knowing what that is unless we run the auction to the end.

The reserve is what it is. I am not going to disclose the reserve. If you are a serious buyer on this car, just bid.

This car was recently found in a barn up in New York. It was purchased from Haverstraw Ford in West Haverstraw, N.Y. It is a one owner car.

This car still retains its original numbers matching 289-4 V hi-po engine and the original numbers matching top loader 4-speed transmission. This car also has the original 9" rear with 3.50 gears and pinion snubber that came in the car from the factory. The pinion snubber was installed on most high-performance Fords. It consists of a bracket that bolts to the pinion support and a rubber bumper that bolts to it and makes contact with the floor under hard acceleration.

This car also came equipped with front disc brakes.

The car has been off of the road since 1981. The motor was last run in the 90s. The motor does turn by hand, but we have not tried to start it. In 1967, there were 5 K- code 4- speed fastbacks that were painted in springtime yellow and this is one of those five. This car also came with the black standard bucket seats and the GT package equipment group as well. What's strange about that is that this GT package did not come with a deluxe interior but instead came with standard interior and a non-fold-down rear seat.

The car also has a front stabilizer bar and adjustable shocks. (The shocks may have been replaced)

The original carb was replaced with a holly carb, however, the original auto lite carb tag is still mounted on the intake manifold.

This car has 86753 original miles.

This is the only K- code car that came with an a.m. eight track stereo radio and it is also still in the car, so in that aspect, it is a "one of one ".

We found an original build sheet behind the dash of the car. Oddly enough, this car came from the factory with hubcaps and that is reflected on the build sheet.( The original 14" wheels and hubcaps are still on the car as well. )We have also done the Marti report on the car and the production report and they will be included in this auction as well.

As you can see, the car needs a full restoration. This car has your typical mustang issues. However, since sitting since 1981, this car is on the better side of most that I've seen. The interior of this car is in really nice shape. The dash is perfect, door panels are really nice and the back seat is perfect as well. The doors close like they are brand new... It needs floors, a battery tray, a trunk, and some minor frame rail work. The door gaps are good and the car retains most of its original paint with the exception of the drivers side quarter panel.

Another strange thing about this car is that there is a Mustang Road rally participant badge that is mounted on the center of the trunk lid. From the information that I could find on the Internet, there was a mustang rally back in 1967 and only participants were given this badge. The original owner was not a participant in this rally and he said the badge was on the car when he purchased it from the dealer. I can only surmise that the dealership possibly had this car on the lot and decided to enter the rally with the car under the dealerships name and someone from the dealer drove it.

I tried to cover as much information regarding this car in my description as possible to avoid a barrage of emails and phone calls. I'm sure we will still get our share of communication regarding this car, but we are trying to keep it to somewhat of a minimum.

A few things that we know are not original to the car.

1. Passenger side exhaust manifold is missing. (the drivers side is in the trunk of the car)
2. Original air cleaner is missing
3. The shifter knob is missing and currently wears an aluminum Hurst T-handle.
4. The original front seats were removed and used in the owners bass boat. They have since been replaced by a set of 1967 standard seats. They need to be re-upholstered.

A 500.00 non-refundable deposit is due within 24hrs of the auction. The balance of the auction is due within 5 days unless other arrangements have been made .
