Description of 1967 Ford Ranchero 500XL

Here it is .... the one I have been waiting for. Finally!.... This is what I said when I stumbled across this Ranchero in April of 1996. The 67 body style and rare factory setup 500xl, 390ci, Factory (A/C, Power Disc brake &P/S) well preserved and complete...... all these things in one vehicle.

Some changes to factory over the years

Dr Green Metallic Exterior is now Red
Cast iron intake and 2 barrel carb ...is now Edelbrock aluminum intake fitted with Ford Holly 4 barrel
Added Magnum 500 wheels
3.0 single wheel drive 9" ...changed to 3.5 posi 9'
Standard clock...is now quartz altered
Small tach on steering column and 2" gauge set under dash
Gas shocks with rear air lift

The vehicle motor and transmission were rebuilt in 1990 and have not been rebuilt since.

I believe the car was painted at that time also.

What I would like to do to the vehicle if I were to keep it

The engine needs to be overhauled within the next couple years. There is some blow-by probably caused by valve guides but not sure.
Paint and body work would probably be personal choice of mine in the next 5 years.The vehicle is amazingly straight and there are no dents in the bed of the truck. There is one rust spot on the truck near the lower portion of the passenger door. I have purchased the lower door skin if it is required for repair but not sure....not a body guy.

FINALLY

This is an excellent driving vehicle, in town or at freeway speeds. The truck stops straight and true and has plenty of power when asked. This truck has been outstanding vehicle for me over the last 20 plus years and there is no reason why it shouldn't continue. It has amazed me everyday and in many ways, from its drive to its repair-ability and reliability.
