Description of 1970 Ford Mustang Mach 1 |
Car is being relisted due to non-payment / accidental purchase. Some revisions have been made to the listing since it was posted earlier today and can be found at the bottom of the listing. This Mustang is all original. A rare unrestored survivor that has not been modified in any way. It has been in our family since my father and mother purchased it in 1970 off the showroom floor of Bob Rice Ford in Boise, Idaho. This Mach 1 has the 351 Cleveland engine with the manual transmission, close ratio 4 speed and Hurst shifter. It has the Shaker hood and hood locks. We did not give it a mirror finish or armoral the inside interior or tires but you can see it is still in great condition and has been well taken care of over the years. Honestly that would not change what's under the hood or the fact that it is still number correct with only 49,104 original miles on it. That averages out to a little over a thousand miles a year that it has been driven in it's 47 years of existence. Most of those were in the first 10 yrs. The only thing my father did was add a stabilizer that was used in police cars back in the day which is still mounted in the trunk. It has been shown in some of the Treasure Valley Mustang and car shows in the past but not in recent years. It is not in perfect shape and needs some minor repairs as can be seen in the photo's. We haveappraisal papers from 2007, the original owners manual plus various other documentation. It was a daily driver for a time before it was stored. It was eventually brought out of storage and at that time it was transported to a mechanic to check and change fluids, replace points, plugs and wires. All remaining fluids were checked anda gasket replaced. The gas tank was cleaned and the original carburetor was carefully rebuilt and put back on the car. It got a new battery and tires too aroundthe sametime if I remember correctly. It was registered as a classic and my mom took it every summer to car show's here in the valley and kept it covered through the winter months.Although very few miles were put on those fluids, tires, battery and etc, that was some time ago and it has been parked for the last 2-3 years. It is time for the car to be serviced and needs new tires. There is very little wear on them but they've aged. My father had the undercarriage undercoated in area's so there is not a lot of rust. Wheel wells are good and not rusted out nor the body. It does have it's original grabber orange paint too. Because of the low mileage there are still parts that have not needed replacing and may continue to last for some time if kept serviced. We have taken it for a few short drives recently to make sure things were still working properly and we will certainly miss it but we will always cherish the memories and stories. It's time to let it go and for someone else to cherish this blast from the past pony car. Because ofour appreciationin preservation, if we kept it we feel the condition is nice enough we wouldn't drive it daily but that's just us. It's a great car for keeping original and what minor repairs it does need wouldn't take much to keep it that way and looking super sweet. If you are a purist this is just about as close as you can get to factory without having to restore one or make it your daily driver I guess. Either way it's a great car and would make a great investment. Headliner is in good to excellent conditionHas original AM push button radioRound clock above the glove box Dash has no cracks that run through it, only a couple very small cracks in the stock speaker holes. Rear seats, arm rests and back window area are in very good condition.Back passenger windows are all in very good working condition. Vinyl on back passenger side just behind window by small curtesy light has a small tear. All seat belts are in tact and working properly. Floor carpet throughout are in good condition with only minor use wear and no holes. Center console in tact and without damage. Console storage compartment in good working condition and door opens and shuts properly.Driver and passenger seat in good working condition with wear to vinyl on drivers seat. The plastic panels on the back of the seats are solid but have discolored due to age. See photo's. Door panels have cracking by the handles and a small piece is missing on the passenger side. See photo's.The faux wood detail on doors are in very good condition as well as the curtesy lights and reflectors.Dash instrument panel is in very good condition w/ nothing missing or broken and has wood detailing.Gear shift is in very good condition as well as the rubber boot and trim. FEATURES I believe it was Manufactured in Dearborn and if the door sticker means what I think, it was in Dec of 1969 that it came off the production line. It came with factory power front disc brakes and power steering and nothing has been changed over or converted since then. AXLE -Code 9 -3:25:1 Standard Differential DSO - Code 73 - Salt Lake City------------------------------------------------------Revision to description on 8/9/17A diagnosis of the steering and clutch since this listing was posted earlier today turns out both are fine and working. A washer slipped on the power steering slave cylinder and that was fixed but it will need a new boot kit eventually which is nothing more then a rubber dust cover to keep the cylinder free from dust and dirt, plus new washers would come with it as well. That costs around $14 online. Also came across a broken spring on the clutch linkage and we replaced that with a new one and it works great. |
