Description of 1973 Ford Mustang Grande |
This 1973 FORD Mustang Convertibleruns and drives GREAT!
NEW IN THE PAST 3 YEARS:
Vehicle History: This Mustang was purchased from Ron Levitt Ford in Philadelphia, PA and driven by the original owner until being put into storage in 1991. At some point, the owner passed away and his wife continued to pay the storage bills until 2014, at which time the car was sold. The new owner replaced the gas tank and did a few other things to get it running and driving. I bought the car from him in January 2015 and brought it home to Florida, where it has been garaged ever since. In the past year or so I have driven this car locally and to Orlando twice (200+ mile round-trip) without problems. It runs very well on the highway and I am not aware of any reason it could not be driven cross-country, keeping in mind that it is a 45-year-old vehicle. FULL DISCLOSURE: The Mustang is wearing a one-year-old driver-quality Maaco paintjob ($1800). It looks very nice, but it is not perfect "show" quality. There was some minor rust repair done on the lower quarter panels and one front fender. Rockers were surprisingly solid and required no repair. A section of the driver-side floor was replaced with sheet metal and several smaller rust areas in the floor were repaired with fiberglass. These repairs are very solid, but again, not "show" quality if you would have judges crawling under the car. The convertible vinyl top is old and has damage by the passenger side of the rear window (see pictures). This area has been temporarily repaired with heavy-duty Flex-Seal rubber tape. The top is water-tight, but should be replaced unless you don't really plan to drive with it up. Power top frame in excellent condition and operates properly. The rear seatbelts are missing. The vacuum-operated heater water valve was replaced with a mechanical valve but the controls have never been connected. This does not affect operation of the A/C which works fine and blows cold air. The heavy urethane covered front bumper, used only on the 1973 model, has been replaced with a 71/72 chrome bumper. The original bumper and brackets are available with the car if the buyer wants them. |
