1973 F100 1/2 TonTruck, SHORT Bed, 390, 3rd owner, 1 of 1!
VIN: F10YRS30856 Clean Title
First off, I'mnotgonna do what dealers do and give you the whole history of their dealership for 17 paragraphs, end every sentence with seven exclamation points in size 72 font, and then have only 2 sentences about thevehicle. You know, these two: "looks stunning" and "runs 'good'".Annoying. I won't insult your intelligence. If you're here, it's for a reason, because you already know that thesetrucksare are hard to come by in this condition, especiallywith rare short beds and withthe "Ranger XLT" top model trim.

I'm cutting it to you straight as I am moving very soon andwill be Unable to Auction theTruckMore than Once as it Has to Go!

(see pics of the Marti Report and YouTube video). Exterior color was Dark Green (Mallard Green) with a Ford code M3542) with an interior color of green Ford code Q.
Has always been inRust Free California and Arizonaand garaged its whole life.

Body is straightwithNo dentsandNo Bondo(see pics and my YouTube video)

I am theThird Owner. The first and second owner knew each other their whole life so they were on the same page in terms of what has been done to it. This same model and year was my first car I learned how to drive on, and after college I decided I just had to have another one just like it for me to baby and enjoy for several years to get it out of my system. Unfortunately today due to job transfer I will not have a 3 car garage where I'm moving to so unfortunately now it is time to say goodbye after15 Years of Ownership.TheTitle is Cleanand is re-registered as of 2014 to add a spouse.
Even though thetruckcame with a 360 2 barrel, the previous owner indicated it hadEngineRebuilt at 80,000 milesand punched out .2000 over. The following was done during that rebuild:
The cranks, rods and pistons were at that time upgraded to give it the 3.75" stroke instead of 3.50", making a 390.

FM CL77 rod and Main Bearings

Neoprene Rear Main Seal

Meling high pressure-high volume Oil Pump and hardened Drive Rod

Water Pump

Cloyes double roller Timing Chain and Gear set

Brass freeze plugs

427 Side Oiler adapter

Manley over-sized hardened valves

Bronze Valve Guides

Stellite hard Valve Seats(Safe for Unleaded Pump Gas!)

All the above work was done by Ron Acconero who was with Ford Engineering for 32 years up to that point.. He was also the Model A Ford Club of America (MAFCA) Board Member, Chapter Coordinator and Advertising Director from 1994 to 1995.He has also written technical articles for the Restorer on engine rebuilding.

There areNo Leaksto this moment anywhere. This engine could be considered cleaner than most kitchens. (see underside pics and my YouTube video)

Headersare installed because one of the huge power restrictions on these 390 engines were the stock exhaust manifolds.

Intake Manifold:Installed is anActual Ford428 Super Cobra Jet Intakefrom cast iron. Its stamping is C8OE-9425-C. (See pics and my YouTube video as well as this link:https://www.428cobrajet.org/id-intake) The heads are from a 1964 Galaxie big block and even though they are not stamped the true Super Cobra Jet stamping of C8OE-6090-N, (seehttps://www.428cobrajet.org/id-heads)they are stamped C4AE-6090-G but contain enlarged and hardened valves to equal that of the actual Super Cobra Jet ones, and you can safely use pump gas with no additives!

AnElectronic Pointsmodule was put in at the time of engine rebuild at 85,000 miles, so never having to do points and condenser ever again is a great thing

The C6Transmission was Rebuiltat the time of engine rebuild at 85,000 miles about 15 years ago and is set a tad more firmly than most yet normal driving has soft comfortable shifts. It was cast iron and internals were upgraded with steel drums and friction plates. When you get on it to downshift and those four barrels open up you will practically hit your head on the back window as it literally kicks you in the back LOL

It has aHolley4180Carburetor(used on 1983 through 1985 FordTrucksincluding 460 and the Mustang High Output models) at 600 cfm. It was just rebuilt in 2017 atRod's Carburetor in Phoenix, AZ.This outperforms the 2 barrel that came with it.

Engine decals are all present, a rarity for this era. The emissions decal on the valve cover is the proper yellow background with black letters for 1973. The air cleaner decal indicating 360 2V is present, and a 390 4V is provided in a Ziploc in the truck.

It was Paintedabout 15 years ago (10k miles ago), the previous owner spent about$8,500at that time which is like $11,300 today. It included all of the metal parts in the interior as well (ceiling, door panels, dash, door jambs).Paint is the color code43/ M-6338 called "Ford Hunter Green Poly" andis from an 1989 Ford Bronco and Ranger (not F-150). Provided will be the actual leftover can of the base and the topcoat of PPG paint that was actually used with the codes on the can. This can be used to match again or as touchup. It is in two one gallon cans, but each have about two inches of paint at the bottom.

Interior was Redoneright after the paint job about 15 years ago (10k miles ago).New Carpet and Seats. The interior was originally green but was totally redone in black. The door panels are the correct "Ranger XLT" ones. The lower package called "Custom" didn't have any chrome trim on the door panels at all and it had plastic square "quilts" as well as a one piece molded into the unit hard plastic arm rest. This is the current door panel you find if you look for aftermarket replacements and isn't correct to the "Ranger XLT" package. The "Ranger" had the same square quilts, same hard plastic arm rest, but with a single chrome strip around the top of door panel. The "Ranger XLT" has a separate rubber arm rest insert, a vinyl door panel insert with vertical pattern, and horizontal chrome strips at thebottomof the door panel as well. Thistruckstill has that. Also the seat hinge cover (chrome pivot cover) exclusive to the "Ranger XLT" still resides as well. Try to find anothertruckthat still has these items above! No really.....go ahead.....I'll wait.
Interior door panels have been removed, window tracks greased, andSoundproofing Addedto the inside of the door, and the inside of the panel itself, so double layer. This was done in 2016. This is theQuietest1973 Ford F100truckout there in terms of road noise, and the doors close with a short "thunk" that feels and sounds great, not a tinny resonating sound like factory.
It has theOriginal AM Radio Rebuiltby the original manufacturer in 2014 and they added a cable for yourPhone or MP3player orBlueToothconverter but still keeping the original look.

Even the speedometer needles are bright and not faded like you usually see, and the speedometer glass isn't yellowed or scratched. (see pics and my YouTube video)

A customCup Holderthat works with the factory ash tray comes with thetruck(see pics and my YouTube video)
When the paint and interior were done 15 years ago, he had to strip everything out since the interior had to be painted. So all carpet, seats, windshield and rear window, door panels, headliner, and dash were all removed. He figured while he was at it he needed to paint between the bed and the cab so the bed was removed, the cab was removed and allCab and Bed Bushings were Replaced with Polyurethaneones. Handles so much better over the bumps. No squeaks rattles. Zero.
Speaking of bumps, theShocks were Replacedin 2006, Monroe, bright and yellow still (see pics and my YouTube video). The front end ball joints, idler arms, etc are tight. The steeringRag Joint was just Replacedwhich made a huge difference in steering wheel slop. However, the steering gear still has a small amount of that, so it was adjusted to tighten up and it is better but I guess I'm used to today's cars. I'm not sure what a newtruckback in the day from the factory was supposed to feel like. With the bigger tires on it as well with tall sidewalls, not sure if that affects it. See video of me driving around and filming the steering wheel to get a feel for what I mean. While on the underside during that restoration, the entire underchassis was painted and all the details that were available in terms of getting is as close to factory "concours" as they could was attempted. (see pics and my YouTube video). Each bolt, spring, cable, etc is cleaned up to factory fresh and even the factor inspectors' marks they used on the assembly line are still mostly there (stripes on drivetrain, inspector codes handwritten on the rear axle, etc.)
THEY INDICATED THAT ALL THE WORK ABOVE COVERED ABOUT 280 TO 300 LABOR HOURS.
TheWheelsare from a 1990-1993 F-150 XLT. They have red center caps, which I think look sharp to match the red XLT emblem on the grille.
It still hasthe Original Windshieldhas no chips, pitting, or cracks. Even has the Ford script (see pics and my YouTube video)
Everything works including the smallest of details like the glove box light, under hood light, AM radio, etc.HOWEVER, there is one exception so technically not "everything" works haha. No, I'm not gonna tell you the cheesy usual "oh ya, the AC just needs a charge". I'm sure it needs more than that. I'm sure it'll need a condenser, orifice tube, fittings, hoses, etc and THEN a charge. I do know the compressor itself is fine however. It's still an R12 system also, keep that in mind.

I get about11 mpghighway.

ItTracks Straight, Brakes Straight, and throttle response is perfect. (see my YouTube video)

The following lights were converted in 2017 toLEDslike the new cars:

Dome Light

License Plate Lights

Tail Lights (not white but red, you have to use the color that is the color of the lens)

Side Markers (red and orange, you have to use the color that is the color of the lens)

Front Turn Signals (orange, as the lenses are clear)

Cargo Light

Under Hood Light

Turn Signal "arrows" on the dash (green, you have to use the color that is the color of the lens)

The glove box light and the dash lights are still incandescent but were replaced a few years back anyway. Dash lights would easy to do as well, again I ran out of time. You can get them from "superbrightleds" website. Don't buy white, buy green.

The headlights are modern halogen bulbs but have the original Ford "FOMOCO" script molded into the glass as raised letters in the glass. So they are as bright as today's regular headlights, but with the original look. (see pics and my YouTube video)

It hasBrand New Tireswhich are Goodyear Wrangler P265/70 R15. (see pics and my YouTube video)

New "Old Stock" Tail Lights(with 1973 part number on them, see pics and my YouTube video) Oct 2017

Rear Gas Tank was cleaned out.New sending unitand all four hoses including the large ones to the filler neck have been replaced in December 2017

There is aNew Headlight "Buzzer"that is behind the seat that comes with thetruckthat I ran out of time to install. Wire it to the headlight switch and back of ignition switch and no more leaving your lights on and a dead battery. (Don't ask me how I know)

Also there is a set ofNew Wheel Cylinders and Brake Hosesthat are brand new as of Nov 2017 that will be included with thetruckstill in the packaging. Again, ran out of time to install so they are yours.

In 2017 I did theRolled on BedCoatingstuff to freshen it up. I never did use it as atruck, but it did have some scuffs and scratches from before.

PROBLEMS:All these problems are shown in the pics and the YouTube video:

Visual:

- Slight "water spot" - looking speck on aluminum trim above driver's side orange marker from a chemical (see pics and my Youtube video)

- The paint has hairline cracks on the bedrails only (see pics and my Youtube video)

- Couple of paint chips on drivers door, vertical side of hood on driver's side, and on front corner of hood (see pics and my Youtube video)

Mechanical:

- Power Steering getting a tad whiny, but of no concern and I'd drive it across country no problem.

- Came with factory A/C. Compressor is fine, but over the years the freon leaked and I have not recharged it. It will need new orifice tube, condenser, etc. It is an R12 car still.

On Apr-17-18 at 19:52:35 PDT, seller added the following information:

Revision: Up above I said that I rolled on the bed coating to freshen it up. My plan was to do so but it never happened. The youtube video shows me pointing this out, lifting up the rubber mat, and seeing the primer underneath. Someone will have to roll the bed after prepping it for its dings, etc. Also the shocks are new but were painted black the same as the rest of the underbody like Ford had them.

On Apr-18-18 at 14:12:19 PDT, seller added the following information:

More stuff as I think of it: New rubber bumpers for the tailgate when it closes. New clips as well that attach to the tailgate rods for when you pull the lever to open it. Old ones were brittle. All mechanisms freed up and greased while in there.
No underhood insulation pad, but soundproofing pads are there. They are available online.
And I guess all in all, the video has more details than this writeup above does, otherwise I'd type all day :)

On Apr-18-18 at 14:18:26 PDT, seller added the following information:

Emblems: All the emblems are their true factory appearance. They are supposed to have black paint edges/borders and also black between the letters. Other vehicles over time the black falls off and the whole lettering piece is just all chrome. Same with the letters F-O-R-D on the grille. They are black background below and above each letter so you don't see their 'mounting' showing up in silver. Same with the tailgate piece. Instead of the letters F-O-R-D stamped in the tailgate like the Custom and Ranger lower-end packages, it has its own dedicated piece where the letters are in black and the horizontal panel is also in black, not all in chrome.
Vehicle has a metal 'screen' behind the grille but in front of the radiator....this keeps debris from bending the fins but still allows it to breathe.

On Apr-20-18 at 15:50:34 PDT, seller added the following information:

More as I think of it, lol....... The spare hanging under there is the original tire, not sure if that matters but its the poly type of tire. The key to the padlock that locks the spare bracket comes on the keychain with the truck.

On Apr-23-18 at 14:57:27 PDT, seller added the following information:

Another thing I thought of...the wipers work, but the washer squirter doesn't. The lines are there, reservoir is there, etc, I think that little pump itself doesn't work. I've never driven the truck in dirty, bug infested, or muddy conditions so I never had a need to squirt the windshield off. I just washed it very often instead.
Also, I was under it the other day, the aforementioned power steering pump that's starting to groan I think has a little leak.
Cargo light bulb isn't in the housing. I took it out to set it aside to upgrade it to LED but never got to it. Didn't want anyone to think something was wrong when they went to flip the switch and waste their time troubleshooting.
I never did get to more videotape like I had wanted. I was going to have some video shots of the camera being stationary on the side of the road and have it drive by the camera, etc. Also some acceleration videos from inside I haven't gotten to either. It's very powerful, but it's not going to take on a '70 Chevelle SS by any means either lol
Gears in rear end are 3.00
More as I think of it....
