Description of 1974 Ford F-100 |
1974 Ford F100 XLT. Ranger. Super Cab! This is the very first year for the Super Cab. This truck has had three owners since new. It was only driven by the first owner. The first owner took very good care of it and finally retired it into dry storage in the mid-1990's. until the second owner bought it (roughly 3 years ago). The second owner had plans on putting the truck back on the road but never got around to it. The truck has never been wrecked and I've been told that it hasn't ever been repainted. The body is in excellent condition except for one small dent in the hood (in photo) and a small amount of rust on the drivers side Super Cab window (also in photo). The interior is very nice and original. The dash isn't cracked. and the carpet and seat covers still look very nice. The previous owner changed the radio. added a column-mounted tachometer. and trailer brakes. It has a second gas tank but I don't know if that was a factory option or add-on feature. This truck has very rare factory AC. It has a long-bed but this is the only way you could get the Super Cab option. The engine is a 2-barrel 400 CI with automatic transmission. The bed is in excellent condition and has been covered by its factory-installed camper shell (bed cover). There is a picture of the decal on the inside of the cover showing that it is a Ford part. I'm not sure why the tailgate is in primer. maybe it was damaged and repaired. or replaced. The truck ran. stopped. and shifted well before it was put into storage. It will crank up and run well as long as you are pouring gas or starting fluid down the carb but it smells like really old gas while its running. So. in order to get it going. you are going to need a battery and go through the fuel system. I was told that it shifted well and stopped well before it was retired so I don't know if still does after sitting for so long. The tires have a lot of tread but are dry rotting. This is a very rare and desirable truck. It is in overall excellent condition!! It must have been the top of the line truck since it was an XLT Ranger with the Super Cab and AC!! |
