Description of 1938 Ford Deluxe Coupe Custom Chopped Classic Multi Magazine Provenance!

You are looking at a 1938 Ford Deluxe Coupe Original Prewar Kustom Taildragger that has the right "Traditional Look" . This One of a kind Custom has a long history with documentation, it has been featured in several magazines. Originally chopped in 1948 by John Vasco of the famous Vasco family in San Deigo. It was driven and shown through the 50s by Sid Angel and won many awards. It then sat through the 60s and 70s when it was reborn and built as a race car by Chuck Edwall and was touted as the "Worlds Fastest 38" setting times over 150mph in Bonneville, El Mirage, and Muroc. It has recently been restored to the Sid Angel version circa 1956 while retaining the
powerful race mill and upgraded suspension.
The body is straight and solid with a custom Black Metallic Lacquer paint job, shows well looks almost dark blue during the day pure black at night. It has been shaved and molded with hidden latches and cables to open the doors trunk and the louvered hood. Very nice one year only grill. The perfect "old Master chop" with chrome garnish and crank out windshield. All glass is cut, fitted and functions. Original Steel 40 Ford Bubble Teardrop Skirts. Shaved and smoothed firewall. Original re-chromed 1937 Desoto ribbed bumpers front and rear. 1941 Studebaker teardrop taillights. Guide 31 bullet running rear lights sit on the one off chrome license plate bracket. The restored 56 CA plate and frame are included with the sale. Custom fitted CalCover all season car cover included.
Zero visible rust any where!
It starts, drives and stops well. It has a 500 Cadillac V8 built engine, 11.25 to 1 compression forged crank shaft and pistons... blueprinted and built to be a 11 sec car. New Water pump, 12V Push Fan, and custom built Brass Radiator keeps this custom cool. Gas flows through the 850CFM Braswell 4brl Carb with electric choke, Larry Kruzick Performance intake. The original batwing air cleaner and specialty adapted Caddy Script Valve covers are dressed to match the block and firewall. Custom deep sump oil pan and high flow pump makes sure there is plenty lube in this well oiled machine. The Cad V8 has dual exhaust that exits out the custom headers that are routed hidden through the fender wells and exit under the running boards. Turbo 400 Automatic Transmission shifts well with a mild stall, gear selection made using a custom adapted 54 olds column shift and steering is made using the beautifully restored matching Olds wheel. New 12v Battery has been relocated to the trunk, New mini powermaster starter, Alternator, and wiring.
The Disc brakes upfront were bled and adjusted and rubber brake lines were replaced. Vega steering box, Magnum Dropped tube axle, dearched spring, and split wish bones round out the front Suspension. It rides on 15" Chrome Gennie Steel Rims and BF Goodrich Radial Fat White Wall tires. The front wheel covers are very rare specialty adapted 50 OldsmobileHearse 16" Stainless sombreros. 1958 Ford 9 inch built with Currie 31 spline axels, 2.47 gear ratio, four link rear suspension with panhard bar and tuned coilovers. Classic 40s stance "Mean and Low"...
Handles great, hauls ass, and goes straight down the road.
The interior is very comfortable with solid floors. Cream and purple tuck and roll Vinyl trims out the panels and low back bucket seats, a stunning headliner features a 41 Caddy Hearse art decco working vanity light. The Stewart Warner Winged black and white Gauges all function including Speedo, Fuel, temp, volts, oil pressure. Hidden radio in the glove box that features the original brass timing tags, no repops.. See pics!!!
In a nut shell this is a one of a kind classic! Turn the key and go cruise! This is not a museum restoration car but with the history it belongs in one. I have been the care taker and proud owner, it was built as a fun car for someone to just enjoy and driver, yes take it to shows and tell its history. Any and every-time I drive this car I get nothing but waves, thumbs ups, conversation,
I cant come out of a store with out somebody standing there looking in!
This is a California car and always has been to the best of my knowledge and based on the included documentation and several magazine articals. It is a good driver with clear CA title in my name. Must see to appreciate!!!
