Description of 1936 Ford Other phaeton

This auction is for an exceptionally original unrestored 1936 Ford phaeton. This very rare and desirable automobile has never been fully restored. This car came from a collector's estate where it had been in storage since the 1970's. This car is very complete. except upholstery. The original folding top assembly is included; but is not currently installed on the car. The top assembly is complete. ust-free and ready for assembly. painting or even plating. The original rear window frame for the top assembly is included and the inner-half has been plated. A new hardwood windshield header and top bows are also included. If you are looking for an original unmolested vehicle. this 1936 phaeton may be just right for you. I believe that much of exterior paint could be original. The body appears to be in incredible original condition. There is only minimal surface rust and almost no filler anywhere on the body including all four doors. fenders. both of the running boards. the hood and the cowl assembly! There are a few shallow dents and scratches on the fenders. The hood has a few dings. Both front fenders look very nice. They have both had small repairs to the edge bead at the fender crown. where stress cracks frequently occur. These areas have been welded and re-enforced. These repairs are nicely done. Little or no filler was used. Both rear fenders have only a few dents and scratches. There was. however. some moderate rust-out to the floor pans and also on the lower inside of the center section door posts. I have included pictures of these areas. Most of the floor pan rust was repaired using heavy gauge flat sheet metal by an early collector probably in the 1970’s. The floor is presently very strong and stable. If you wish to redo the floor you should not have any trouble. As many of you know. exact reproduction repair panels are now available. I have lain upon my back on a creeper and looked up at the bottom of all four doors. Their bottoms have old original paint and only very light surface rust. The wood is totally solid on all four of the doors. All of the doors open and close properly and they have no dents. Just so you are certain. there is no rust-out anywhere along the outside bottom edges of the entire body. Even the lower part of body at very back. where the rear bumper brackets are located has never been rusted dented or damaged! The body wood appears to be almost all original and is excellent. Some quality repairs have been made to the upper body wood on both upper-back inside corners near where the convertible top assembly rests and to one other area located along the upper-corner of the front seat back-rest on the driver’s side. These repairs were made with new hardwood. The quality of this work is very good. Good enough to be difficult to notice upon first inspection. As you can see in my photographs only the wooden lower front seat spring support is broken and missing some small pieces. With exception of this small assembly. the wood in this car should be ready for new upholstery. The original seat springs are included and they are in excellent condition. The headlights are original and include original Ford script lenses. The tail lights are also original. The front and rear bumpers and bumper guards have been re-plated. The windshield frame and windshield posts have re-plated. There is no glass in the windshield. The engine is a correct early 85 hp 21 stud flat head V-8 and it may the original. The engine starts easily and runs very well! It sounds strong and fresh to me. The engine runs with 40 plus lbs oil pressure and does not smoke or knock. There is coolant in the radiator and there are no detectable leaks in the cooling system. The exterior on the engine is clean and appears to have been re-painted. The previous owner may have had the engine rebuilt. My guess is that you should be able to use it without further repair. To start it I used a remote starter switch connected at the solenoid as the new wiring harness has not yet been installed. I also used a small temporary gas tank. The gas tank appears to be in excellent condition. but the fuel line has not been cleaned or connected. A good nearly new 6 volt battery is included. The condition of the chassis. transmission. and rear axle are unknown. All of these components appear to be original and unrestored. As far as I can tell. the body has never been off of the frame. The wire spoke wheels are probably off of a 1935 Ford. some collectors prefer them. This car already has great curb appeal. It has show car potential! Here is a car that almost anyone would be proud to own and to show. What a wonderful project! Please look at all of the pictures. carefully. I will be happy to answer any serious questions. This vehicle is used and sold with no warranty. I have placed a reasonable reserve to protect my investment.
