Description of 1970 Ford F-100 Sport Custom |
thy@certified For sale: 1970 Ford F-100 Sport Custom western survivor. Straight, solid, original truck with 52k miles showing - I don't have maintenance receipts to document mileage, but all wear items confirm that mileage is original. Truck still has it's original Ford script headlights, original Carlite windshield, date coded original Autolite plug wires and fan belts. Original seat has a only few tears, and original floor mat shows very little wear. Sold new in Minnesota, it came out west in 1974-75 and remained with the same owner here for 35 years. It was owned by a local building inspector, he had a county truck that he drove daily, and this rig saw little use. It was ultimately parked in long term storage. I had a professional mechanic drain the gas and do the carb and brake work needed to get it running, and check over the truck. It runs and drives well and really draws a crowd - people seem to respond to original patina survivors even more than restored trucks. Original 1975 Montana plates shown on truck are included. I'll do my best to describe this special truck below, PLEASE see the Photobucket album link with over 100 pics including the underside in the description. Exterior: Original Boxwood green paint with great patina. Pure 1970s. Clean, straight truck with a few dings as shown. Really presents well and draws a lot of compliments. Truck has small hail dents in hood and roof, I couldn't get them to show up in pics, but noticeable in certain light. The windshield moldings and spotlight head, being softer metal, have larger, noticeable hail dings -thankfully those items are easily replaced. Truck is very tight and doors close like a bank vault. Thanks to the early move out west, truck was saved from salt and rust is very minimal with no rot. I'd say 95 percent rust free. Only a couple very small holes as shown, bottom of front fender, behind rear wheel, and back of box under molding. A few tiny blisters on box rails from where a camper shell was on it for years. Underside looks very good, with only a couple small spots on cab support and cab dropoff - see detail pics at linked Photobucket album below. Of course we don't see frame rot here out west. Glass is good, and chrome isn't pitted. Original West Coast Jr "Ford" stamped mirrors in good condition. There are a couple small extra holes in driver door from auxillary mirror, and a few along box rails from topper bolts. A sharp looking truck that would look great at the Home Depot or Cars N Coffee. Interior: All original in good clean survivor condition. No moisture or rodent damage or smells. Dash has only a couple of small cracks, same for original seat upholstery. Original floor mat in good condition with little wear. I think everything works save for horn and brake warning light. Gauges, lights, wipers, heater, etc working. Even original dealer-installed "Ford" stamped spot light works.Radio plays but doesn't tune well, I'm sure it will need tuning band replaced. Very nice and original. Mechanical: Starts, runs, and drives out fine. Original 360 pulls strong with no noise, smoke, or major leaks. Since getting it running, I've put perhaps 100 miles on it around town. Truck drives like it should at 52k miles, tight and nice without the usual squeaks and rattles. Power steering is quiet. Tires have good tread, but are older so plan on replacing. I'm sure as you drive it, it will need further sorting. I think everything works save for horn and brake warning light. Old trucks need work from time to time, so if you haven't owned vintage vehicles before, adjust your expectations accordingly. Really a comfortable and enjoyable driver. Pricing/Misc: This truck is NO RESERVE and will sell. If you've been looking lately, you already know that prices on 67-72 Ford trucks have gotten nutty. This truck runs and drives, but flying in and driving it home isn't a great idea, as Montana is a huge state with many remote areas with no cell service or roadside assistance. Reasonable transport is available, I will drive truck to meet your transporter and help load it. Title is clear and in my name, buyer will need to get insurance upon purchase as I will cancel mine. Truck can stay here for 30 days, after that $100/month storage will be due.
