Description of 1971 Ford F-100

***This is a 7-day auction, ending Sunday night. I do not have a buy it now listed, but will consider any serious offers. I reserve the right to end the auction early within eBay guidelines***
For sale: 1971 Ford F100 Ranger XLT, rare factory Raven black with red interior. Western survivor, one owner 1971-2019. Truck was purchased new at Bison Ford in Great Falls, Montana on Aug 7, 1971 by a neighbor and longtime friend and stayed here in Marlboro country it's whole life. I bought it from his estate when he passed a little over a year ago. Originally equipped with a 390 and 4 speed. A few years ago as a retirement gift to himself, he had a local shop build a 1967 428 and C-6 for it, and swap it in. His goal was to make a patina sleeper, and he definitely succeeded. Many a local hot shoe was surprised by the old man in the black Ford! Original manual, warranty papers. owner card, and Marti Report are included along with original jack and tools. I had a blast driving the F100 to local cruise nights, weekend shows and to lunch with the guys last summer, and it's time to pay it forward and move it on. I'll do my best to describe it below, PLEASE see the Photobucket album link with pics including the underside in the description below, and the YouTube videos.

Exterior: Original paint with a few small touch-ups, faded to a nice patina. A guy at a car show described it as "perfectly worn, like a leather saddle". Paint is very thin on hood and pretty well gone on roof. I did not clear coat it, just polished it. Straight with some dings in hood and one dent low on driver door. As far as exterior rust goes, other than surface rust and some small blisters as shown, there is a small area at the bottom of both front fenders below the rocker trim. Underside looks good other than cab mounts, mud from front tires packed in around those and held moisture. They will need attention at some point. I don't believe this truck ever saw salt. Glass is good and windshield is new. Truxedo tonneau cover is new. Chrome and moldings have dents and dings as shown. SEE DETAIL PICS in Photobucket album for close ups of all areas.

Interior: Original driver quality, needs work if you want it nice. Fortunately interior kits are available from several vendors including LMC and Dennis Carpenter. Dash and seat both have cracks under the covers. Original carpet is faded and needs replacement. The 4 speed shifter hole is plugged off under the mat. Glass is good and windshield is new. I think everything works, all gauges, wipers, heater, lights, radio, etc. Ready to drive as is and upgrade as you go.

Mechanical: Starts, runs, and drives out well. Engine is a 1967 428 passenger car short block with C7ME-A block, 1U crank, and C1AE heads. I know the two local shops very well that did the work, and between the engine and trans it came to over $5000. Both have under 10k miles. My friend had a folder with receipts for all work done, but we could not find the folder in his boxes of papers. The motor is a mild build with .510 Melling cam, big tube headers, Edelbrock intake and 750 carb. It is a torque monster, and moves the 3950 lb F100 with alacrity. Seat of the pants feel is startling, and you need to warn passengers before stepping it down. 2.5" exhaust is newer and is very throaty, check the videos. Truck is well sorted, a pleasure to drive, and I believe everything works. Only issues I'm aware of are one rear axle seal that's leaking, and it does have a draw that will drain battery over time. I installed a cut off switch to disconnect battery when parked. Front tires are newer, rears are old and need replaced at some point. Just a fun driver that will draw a crowd wherever you stop.

Pricing/Misc: This truck is NO RESERVE and will sell. Reasonable transport is available, I will drive truck to meet your transporter and help load it. Title is clear and in my name, buyer will need to get insurance upon purchase as I will cancel mine.
