Description of 1965 Ford Fairlane 500 |
This isn't exactly a barn find, but the moss adds a nice touch. What doesn't have moss does have great patina. This would be a great base for a family truckster, with some modern drive line. Just a thought. I am selling this Fairlane for my long suffering Misses's friend. The car was her father's car until the '80s, when it was parked. The car was passed down to his grand son. Unfortunately the grand son lost his life way too young. It has been decided to let this heirloom go, so that it has a better chance to live again. The engine was lightly stuck from sitting. After spending several days soaking in a combination of PB blaster, transmission fluid, and kerosene, the engine was easily rolled over by turning the fan by hand, and the plugs out. A cheap Chinese carb was purchased along with a set of plugs and wires. I then figured out to why the car was parked. The flywheel ring gear is worn down enough to where the starter doesn't fully engage enough under compression. I believe it will run, but a more modern/reliable choice may be a better choice? The car is located in East Alabama, so there isn't a lot of rust issues. The worst spot is where the line needles gathered at the trunk seal. The steel around the seal is mostly gone, but the trunk floor is solid. The other rust issue is under the driver's seat. All the rest of the floor/rockers/quarters & doors are in descent shape As said before, this car has been a life long resident of Alabama. With that being said, be aware that Alabama does not issue titles on anything vintage, so a bill of sale will be supplied upon sale. Terms of sale: $200.00 within 24 hours of the end of the auction. Cash payment is due at the time of pickup. I can work with any transportation company if so desired. Thank you for your consideration! |
