Description of 1968 Ford Bronco |
For sale: 1968 Ford Bronco original paint survivor barn find. Truck was purchased new new in Butte, Montana and lived a life of trout fishing and elk hunting here in the Rocky Mountain west. A real 70's time capsule with period Duff hood scoop, roll bar, and floor shifter. I purchased it from a local guy who owned it 30 years, the last 20 it was mostly stored and saw little use. I had a professional mechanic drain the gas in both tanks, rebuild the carb, bleed the brakes, and inspect the truck. It's a running and driving rig that with a bit more sorting could be used as is, or take it to the next level. Some rust, but no doubt better than an East coast or Midwest salt-belt truck. I'll do my best to describe this honest truck below. Nothing has been covered up or hidden with undercoat or rattle can, what you see is what you get. PLEASE see the Photobucket album link with 80 pics including the underside lower in the description, and watch the YouTube walk around video. Exterior: Original paint with great patina. Some rust in the usual spots, not from salt, but from mud packing in and holding moisture- all very fixable. Typical Early Bronco rust in floors, kick panel area, rockers, and tailgate. Also the two usual spots under the hood on each side, and a spot on the driver rear wheelhouse. Good news is that the door frames and A and B pillars look good. Underside also looks good, body mounts in good shape and of course we don't see frame rot here out west. SEE PICS and VIDEO. Back in the day a Duff hood scoop was added and there is a hole in the hood. Roof rack was installed as was typical back in the day, and CB antenna. There are a couple extra holes above windshield. Has a winch bumper, but winch was removed before I got the truck. It's just an honest rig that hasn't been fluffed or restored, real 70s time capsule. Interior: Fair condition, passable for a driver, no rodent damage. Gauges, lights, wipers, heater, etc working. Dashpad in good shape and not cracked. Radio and CB not connected. Originally a column shift, was converted to a Duff floor shift as was common back in the day. Glass is good except windshield, which needs replacement. Mechanical: Starts, runs, and drives. 289 engine is very strong with good oil pressure and was upgraded with an aluminum intake and 600 Holley. Pulls smooth with no noise, smoke, or major leaks. Mileage shows 70k, not sure if that's accurate or not. Since getting it running, I've put perhaps 100 miles on it around town. Both fuel tanks work. Does have a wobble at some speeds like perhaps a bent wheel. Brakes will need to be checked before using it as a daily driver, truck stops but pulls to the right. Left turn signal not working. I'm sure it will need further sorting as you go, old trucks need work and if you've never owned an old rig, adjust your expectations accordingly. Pricing/Misc: If you're looking for a minty survivor, this isn't your rig. If you want a complete running and driving honest original that you can drive while restoring, this could be for you. Truck is NO RESERVE and will sell. If you've been looking, you already know that prices on early Broncos have gotten crazy. Nice survivors are $30k and up, I personally sold a decent survivor last year right here on eBay for $33k. This truck runs and drives, but it isn't ready for a long trip, so flying in and driving it home is out. Reasonable transport is available, I will drive it to meet your transporter and help load it. Title is clear and in my name, buyer will need to get insurance upon purchase as I will cancel mine. Truck can stay here for 30 days, after that $100/month storage will be due.
