Description of 1972 Ford Ranchero GT

Extremely rare! #s matching, documented real GT born with Cobra Jet motor, 4-speed and a posi rear. Restored 2011 as part of a Ford dealer's collection. EXTERIOR: Upfront the grill looks like an air intake on a jet. It also features GT scooped hood, sport mirrors and 5 spoke wheels. Has optional bumper gaurds. The body is really straight down the sides and across the hood. The black paint is like a mirror, looks like you could dive right in.... Everything fits really nice proper gaps. Doors shut nice. The grill is excellent, bumper has been rechromed. Has good glass, moldings around the windows are shiny. Trim around the bed is original, straight and shiny. Back bumper is rechromed. Door jambs are painted gloss black. Weather strips and window seals are soft. Inside the bed was very clean and straight. Not beat up, no rust. Painted gloss black. Tailgate opens and closes very smoothly. There are GT side decal stripes available online, that's a personal preference. INTERIOR: It has a sporty interior. Two bucket seats and a full length console in between. The dash has the full instrumentation including a tachometer. Of course you have a 4-speed sitting there on the floor with a Hurst shifter and a white ball. Everything inside the car is really very nice. Door panels are pristine. Headliner, visors, carpet and upholstery is new. Dash area is very tidy and clean. Interior lights work. There is storage space behind the seats, has jack assembly. ENGINE COMPARTMENT: Original 351 Cobra Jet. We verified the car's vin is on the back of the motor. Runs strong, no issues. It is upgraded with an aluminum intake, a big dual feed Holley carb with electric and HEI ignition. Features include power steering and brakes. It's dressed up with some really nice Ford Motorsport aluminum valve covers. The engine bay is painted gloss black. Hinges are new. Power steering pump and alternator were replaced. UNDERSIDE: Appears the be very solid. Floors, rockers, frame rails are clean. Has the optional competition suspension which includes sway bars. In front it has disc brakes. Looking at the motor even from the bottom, it looks fresh. The original 4-speed also looks fresh, shifts smooth. Has original rear end with 3.25 traction-lok. Has a recent exhaust system with Flowmaster mufflers. Has high torque starter, new shocks, e-brake assembly is complete, front end components look good. Documented with Marti Elite report. This is right from Ford's micro film. So it's undeniably a GT with a Q code 351 motor, 4-speed and posi. What makes it even a little more interesting is there was no paint code. It says special paint, Ford # unknown. It was also sold new as a fleet ordered under paint or order #. What does that mean? I dont know but it is interesting. I was pretty excited to find out this was a documented real deal. Once we got it on the lift and verified #s matching I was very happy.
