GR Auto Gallery is pleased to present this 1957 Ford Thunderbird for purchase. The Ford Thunderbird project was in direct response to that of the Chevrolet Corvette, but not very similar. In fact, the number of T-Birds sold the first 3 years of production was much greater than the Corvette. This might have been the result of a better marketing campaign by Ford. They were the first to market the term "personal luxury car" vs "sports car". The original 2... seater personal luxury car reached its pinnacle in the final year of production, 1957. The car received some subtle styling changes up front along with pronounced tail fins on the rear of the car. Fords Thunderbird for 1957 still remains one of the most recognizable cars on the planet. This car was purchased new in Indianapolis, and made its way to Michigan in 1987. The second owner owned it for over 20 years and kept it well maintained and babied it. It has had one re-paint over the rears and remains in excellent condition. The third owner had it in his care for roughly a year and 6 months in Virginia. The car just recently was given new shocks front and rear. At this time the transmission linkage and the steering adjustment were gone through. The heads were cleaned and new valve cover gaskets were installed. The car also had a complete tune up and the brakes were adjusted. The soft top is in great condition, as is the hard top. Car comes with a tonneau cover and a bra as well. The car features a 312 v8 with an automatic transmission. The power seat motor was replaced as well. Other features include wide whitewall tires, AM radio, power steering, spare tire and jack and more. Don't miss this opportunity to own a beautiful classic such as this.
