Description of 1970 Ford F-250 Sport Custom Cab

I am selling a very original 1970 F250 2wd Sport Custom Cab with many factory options including power steering, power disc brakes, and air conditioning (not charged). The truck runs excellent. The truck has a very unique history (see below), been locally owned since new, largely garage kept, and the major mechanical work has been professionally done. The truck still has its original paint, interior, body panels, and is in excellent shape in terms of rust for its age.
The body is overall very straight for original. To be expected, it has some minor dings, scratches, paint fading, thinning paint, and body "patina." The truck has the ultra cool trendy look many are paying big money to replicate. The paint has not been buffed or re-cleared. Meanwhile, the truck bed is eerily straight for its age (not perfect) as it has not been used much. It does have one small spot of cancer in the center of the bed. The tailgate and doors open/shut excellent. I do not see any rust issues underneath. Compared to many old trucks, the rockers, cab mounts, door jams, floors, drip rails, etc. are clean. Do not expect 100% perfect. But, compared to most, it is well above average. I have a ton of pictures if one needs a specific picture.

History:
As the word of mouth story goes, the truck was bought new in Gresham, Oregon at McRobert Ford. The original owner did not alter the truck from the factory and drove it daily until the factory 360 engine froze on 11-29-88 @ 108083 miles. The truck was garaged afterwards. The truck was then sold to an owner of an automotive shop in Gresham, OR on May 23rd, 2003. The truck was stored in the back of the shop until 2-3 years ago when the truck finally got some attention. The factory 360 was scrapped and a reconditioned 390 was installed. The factory C6 was rebuilt. The truck also got new brake pads & shoes, a new master cylinder, rebuilt carburetor, heater core, etc.... Even after all the work was done, while the truck ran excellent, it sat in a shop. The truck shows 108161 miles now. The 360 froze at 108083 miles. Therefore, the motor/trans have less than 100 miles on them since completion! The truck needs to be driven. The tags show 1989. This alone shows how long ago the truck was on the road. The only reason for sale is it has sat too long and deserves to be enjoyed by a new owner. The clear Oregon title is signed off by what is believed to be the original owner with a sign off date of May 2003. Lastly, the truck was bought new in Gresham, OR and has lived all of its life in Gresham and SW Portland (basically within 30 minutes of the dealership).

What the truck needs:
The truck runs great. When it gets to higher speeds, it can wander. Before I would put many miles on it, I would for sure get a new set of tires. They are old and mismatched (bias ply and radials). This is most likely why the truck wanders a touch over 40-ish MPH but handles/runs/steers great at lower speeds. Frankly, I do not trust old tires and think they are unsafe. I would get tires put on it now. But, I feel the new buyer might pick a different style/size of tire than I would.
Other than tires, like any used rig that is largely original, one can nitpick it. I feel most buyers are realistic and expect some rattles, fluid leaks, and imperfections. It is not a new truck. One fuel tank has been gone (behind the seat) through while another has not been touched. The tank behind the seat is in need of a new sending unit. I will include a sending unit with the purchase of the truck. The original/bad sending unit is the reason the gas gauge does not work. The heater does not work. The system was gone through other than it needing a heater control valve. I am ordering a new one. That will also be included with the sale of the truck. The engine temp gauge just needs to be hooked up. Lastly, the muffler/tailpipe have slight exhaust leaks. But, nothing too annoying/loud.

Conclusion:

Survivor cars and trucks are often worth as much or more than restored rigs as they are only original once. This is a straight forward rig that has little to hide. The truck is priced more than fair with no reserve. Heck, according to the mechanical shop that completed the work to get the truck back on the road, the motor alone would have cost a customer $2500+, minus the work to the transmission, carb, brakes, etc...

My opinion of the truck may differ form another person's opinion. I hate to say all of this. But, in today's world, we always need disclaimers. :) Lastly, I am happy to assist with shipping. I do not know of good shippers. But, I will gladly give it a safe place to stay until the shippers show up. The truck will soon be listed for sale locally.
