Description of 1969 Ford Mustang Mach 1 |
1969 Ford Mustang Mach 1 AWESOME RestorationPotential! This Mustang Mach 1 was found in a barn/garage where it sat since the mid-80's. At some point the transmission went out and it was parked. A friend bought it from the original owners and started to do some basic restoration (mainly body, some interior). He knew I was a Ford guy and I was able to buy it from him a little over 6 years ago when he decided to focus on MOPAR. It has been in storage or in my shop ever since. Comes with Marti Report. This is one of my favorites and it hurts to sell but we have other projects ahead of it. Engine: 351-4V will run and is believed to be original but not I'm not 100% on condition due to transmission issues. UPDATE: Several guys have pointed out that they believe the engine is a 351C (Cleveland) and not original. That engine was not available until 1970. So, based on the new info, it's probably safe to say the engine is NOT original. I apologize for the error.I'm not knowledgeable enough on the differences between the 351W & 351C and I haven't checked the engine (block) codes. I was going on the information that the previous owner (my friend) got from the original owner. Brakes: 6 Years ago the brakes worked but I'm sure they will need to be refreshed or replaced. Again due to transmission issues, they've never been fully tested under driving conditions. Transmission:It is believed that the original owners were drag racing the car in the mid-80s. At some point the transmission (forward gears at least) went and it has not been fixed. My plan was to replace or rebuild (if possible). Tires and Wheels: Wheels are staggered as shown in the pictures and are in "OK" condition. Tires are dry but will hold air for a time (slow leaks). Should be ok to roll on and off a trailer for transport. We will attempt to seal the leaks prior to purchase and tires will be fully inflated when picked up. Interior: Newer front seats were purchased and installed prior to me owning the Mustang. The car has been sitting for a while and the seats will need cleaned and the rest of the interior will need attention (carpet, dash, console, etc). They should clean up without too much effort but some items may need replaced or restored. Gauge condition is unknown. Exterior: Body work has been done and the car is currently in black matte (primer). It appears the car is solid without significant body rust. Some rust on undercarriage and under hood. Floors seem solid. Glass is in good condition but will need cleaned and side (door) windows adjusted. Title: Title is clear. The Mustang will need to be towed or hauled. Buyer is responsible for pickup and delivery. We have a open car hauler and will be willing to transport within 400 miles at $1.25 per mile ($500 max cost to you). Please contact me to discuss in more detail. I've done my best to describe and disclose as much information as possible. Much of the details I have shared were communicated to me by my friend who received the information from the original owners. A non-refundable deposit is required within 48 hours of auction end. We try to be as honest as possible when listing a vehicle. If you have questions or concerns about the vehicle that we haven't addressed in the description or in pictures, please feel free to ask. We want both buyer and seller to be happy with the transaction. A little about us and our collection of restored and in need of restoration vehicles: Several years ago I started buying classic cars with the intention of restoring and selling or keeping for our private collection. Our herd consists of primarily Fords and Jeeps with the occasional GM or other vehicle. Unfortunately, I was able to buy much faster than restore. There are a good number of vehicles that we just won't get to (in my lifetime). And we intend to downsize our property and collection, so some vehicles must go. We welcome and encourage inspection prior to bidding. Mustang is sold as is, where is. (Reasonable) Trades will be considered. Thanks for looking and happy bidding!Stew |
