All reasonable and respectful offers will be considered. Feel free to submit an offer above. Must sell.
What's better than a real deal, First Edition 1965 Mustang GT? Nothing came before - this is the first year of the Mustang GT Fastback and without a doubt began the world shaping, horsepower hungry Muscle Car Era as we now know it!
Hello folks, I am selling my Factory GT 1965 Mustang Fastback 2+2 289 CI 225 HP V8 with 65,701 originalmiles. The fastback is well optioned with factory Air Conditioning, Real & Correct Original RallyPac, Factory GT Performance and Handling package (Factory Front disc brakes, Special Handling Package, Factory Fog Lights, 5 Gauge GT instrument Cluster, etc), Factory Center Console and Lighting, and many other factory options. Hard to find. Matches exactly to data plate on driver's door - Rangoon Red on Red/Black with Camera Case Black GT Interior Decor Group -Verified to be a True GT with ALLcorrectGT specific body and equipment indicators.
My '65 GT Fastback is in amazing condition and runs true and strong. No rust (clean floors, torque boxes, frame rails, fenders, and all original sheet metal throughout), very original and very well taken care of for the last 55 years. 2 previous owners. Looks and drives great. Comes with original bolt-on engine bay equipment to easily return to complete stock appearance (4 or 5 bolt on parts). All newer AC hardware/hoses/parts, working original York compressor removed to be resealed and included in sale with brackets & blows cold.
Car is laser straight and the gaps, fitment, and lines on the fenders, trunk lid, hood, doors, etc are nearly PERFECT. If you know first generation mustangs you'll understand why this is so impressive - the cars were so popular and being produced so fast that straight from the factory floor the results were inconsistent at best - this car is sharp!!!
The Rarity of the First Generation Mustang GTs go withoutargument: Including Fastbacks, Convertibles, and Coupes less than ~1% of the Mustangs produced were GT models. All Mustangs and even the GTs came standard with the tame 3-speed manual with an option to Upgrade. This particular Fastback is rarer still as it was ordered from the Factory with the upgraded, "Green Dot" Cruise-O-Matic Auto for an additional$165.00 at the time - very few were produced with this package and fewer still exist with their original build - many converted to 3, 4 and 5 speed transmissions and of course those lost to time and tragedyover the last 55+ years. As a tribute to the proven Race winning GT350 produced by Shelby- and in response to the masses desiring more sporty and responsive performance car out of the box- the mid 1965 announcement of the GT Package and even later public availability of the GT Model makes the 65 GTs extremely hard to come by. This is a leading example of why many fakes, tributes, and clones are on the market today- everyone wants one!
The Fastback constantly, CONSTANTLYdraws an absurd amount of attention any time we take it out! Always, always a crowd favorite (and always draws a crowd)!Fun fact - this is a near perfect twin of the First ever Fastback GT debuted at the 1965 World's Fair announcing the addition and availability of the GT line up!I've included a photo from the world's fair of this exact car!
