Description of 1965 Ford Mustang |
1964 1/2 PRE-INTRODUCTION MUSTANG CONVERTIBLE – INTRODUCTION DAY FOR THE MUSTANG WAS APRIL 17. 1964 1st day of Mustang production was March 9th This car was built on March 25. 1964……. 24 days before the actual introduction of the Mustang!!! TRY TO FIND ANOTHER ONE!!!! I have been in the business for over 40 years and it is very hard to impress me. But. this very RARE 1964 1/2 Mustang Convertible has me really excited. I have been trying to buy this particular Mustang for months now and finally was able to purchase it! Please pay close attention to what I am telling you now. The debut for the Mustang was April 17. 1964. Ford needed to make some cars before that date to be ready for the demand for the cars. They started making these cars on March 9. 1964. The car I have for sale right now was built on March 25. 1964. The is 24 days BEFORE the debut on the Mustang on April 17. 1964. To say that these pre-introduction produced cars are hard to find is a tremendous understatement! Do me a favor. YOU try to find one. I have had numerous Mustangs. Shelbys. and Cobras over the years. I was even was the person who found the 1963 Cobra Daytona Coupe # 2601. which was the most famous of all the six Daytona Coupes. I have also had the “R” model GT 350 that won the 1966 National Championship. but I have never had one of these pre-introduction Mustangs. Now. as if those facts were not enough and if this car was some derelict 1964 Coupe that was all rusted out and had not run in years. it would STILL be quite a find. BUT. this car is a RED Convertible that runs and drives like it was brand new. I believe that it is the tightest driving Mustang I have ever driven! There is NO TOP for stiffening like there is in a Coupe. It is in unbelievable shape and is believed to be a car that has only been driven 20. 00 miles. WOW!!!! The red interior appears to be all original and is in phenomenal condition. As usual with the cars I buy. all the date codes are correct on the front fenders. the trunk lid. the braces of the rear bumper in the trunk. the dates in the engine compartment and last but not least the rocker panel date codes. Even the spare tire steel wheel has the correct date code on it. INCREDIBLE!!! The paint on the car was redone years ago and looks stunning. If you are familiar with 64 ½ cars like I am (I owned one IN 1965!). then you are familiar with the detailed paint stripe that was applied to highlight the natural curves of the car. As you can see. this car has one of these stripes on each side of the car. In the book "Original MUSTANG 1964 ½ - 1966 - The Restorer's Guide" by Colin Date. he states "Right from the car's introduction. an original body side ornamentation pakage included bright rocker panel moldings and a fine "Tiffany" pin stripe that was painted around the body sculpturing. When this option was specified. the chrome "scoop" on the rear quarter panel was deleted. " I am copying the registration done in 1991 from a previous owner showing the mileage to be 15. 00 miles. So the 20. 00 miles could be accurate. The floors and the weep holes under the doors are in fantastic shape and have never had any work done to them as far as I can see. I received from the previous 89 year old owner of this car all the documents and records he has. Here are two very interesting records from him. In 1991 there is an Arkansas application for Antique license plates. It shows the mileage to be 15. 976 on June 16. 1991. There is also another document from Arkansas State Police which shows the mileage to be 17. 63 in March of 1995. There is also an oil change sticker on the side of the door which shows the mileage. I will take a picture of that for you when the car arrives. I also made copies for you of the registration receipts of the believed to be second owner of the car. Please enjoy the pictures of this very historically significant car. Don’t miss this one as I have no idea where another one is. Many more pictures are available upon request. We reserve the right to end this auction early due to the fact that this Convertible is for sale locally. I WILL BE GLAD TO ANSWER ANY AND ALL QUESTIONS SO. PLEASE ASK ANY AND ALL QUESTIONS BEFORE BIDDING!I WILL NOT DISCLOSE MY RESERVE. GOOD LUCK!! |
