Description of 1969 Ford Mustang |
The 1969 Mach 1 Mustang with factory 390 engine is the rarest & lowest production of the Mach 1 fastbacks. This highly optioned 69 Mach 1 was purchased new at a Beverly Hills. CA dealership in May of 1969 and stayed in CA it's entire life. This vehicle was built with one of the rarest & arguably the best colors available at that time- Gulfstream Aqua Metallic. Ordered & built with most of the best options including 390 c. i. d. 4V V8 engine. C6 automatic trans. power disk brakes. power steering. air conditioning. tachometer. AM 8 track radio. tinted glass. traction lock differential. & more (see Marti report). Very solid original body with all original quarter panels & floors. this Mach 1 never saw any serious accidents & has never had any major rust. Taillamp panel was correctly replaced many years ago with a genuine Ford part. Hood was replaced recently with a reproduction unit. Original front fender aprons & radiator support are original with original VIN stamps. Floor pans are solid with only a small area of rust on driver front floor . There are 2 old & very thin paint jobs over the original paint with little body filler. Paint came off easily in the driver door jamb section when I applied stripper. & paint will easily sand off the remainder of vehicle with a sander. All original black Mach 1 interior has new reproduction dash pad. & comes complete with original 8 track radio & rim blow steering wheel. Carpet & headliner have been removed. This 390 Mach 1 was built late in the model year on April 28. 1969. The engine block vin # stamping matches vehicle ID. & all major engine parts are date code correctly: Block 9D17. Heads 9D9 & 9D11. Intake 9C27. Exhaust manifolds 9C20 & 9D11. & water pump 9D23. All date codes are in March or April of 1969 before vehicle assembly date. Also still has original Ford 4100 series carburetor #C9ZF-F. Engine was disassembled. cleaned. & crack checked. & is standard bore 4. 050". Block is in great shape & will easily clean . 030" bore / hone for rebuilding. Pistons were de hung from original rods & discarded as well as old cam/ lifters. & timing chain as these always get replaced during rebuild. All other engine components are present. Engine has been bolted back into vehicle for transportation purposes but obviously will not run without rebuild. I have many photos of all the part #s. vin #s. & date codes. as well as general understructure photos available upon request. This rare & highly sought after big block Mach 1 will be an easy restoration project. all the rare & hard to find parts are present. & no major body issues to deal with. Good investment car will bring high dollar when restored. or just put it away for the future & watch it go up in value. Vehicle is for sale locally so auction can end at any time.
