Description of 1958 Ford Other Sta wgn |
1958 Edsel Bermuda Very nice restoration on one of only 3 Bermuda station wagons built with a manual 3 speed transmission. Enclosed are pictures of the undercarriage in outstanding condition and finished in satin black. There has never been any rust or undercarriage damage any where in its 57 year history. The production numbers are 892 total Bermuda's built. The 1958 Edsel's are unique because they were built as a whole new and different car unlike 1958 Ford or Mercury. In 1959. Ford combined their production with Ford cars and used Ford chassis and mostly regular Ford passenger car parts making them. for instance. just like a Galaxy. The 1958 cars were all built differently as a true Edsel. The paint is a very high quality with straight panels and nice fit. The glass is original and in good condition for its age. The chrome is done to a very high level throughout the car. The stainless trim is excellent and also polished to a very high standard. Some of the rubber is original and some has been replaced and all the rubber is in good condition. The faux wood trim is all in nice condition. The engine runs like a watch. Always starts nicely. New exhaust and a new clutch. These came with an overdrive and the gearbox and overdrive work exceptionally well. No oil leaks from the power steering. motor. transmission. or rear end. The test for this is it sat in my warehouse for over a year without any oil on the floor. Brakes beautifully and drives tight and smooth. This is startingly fast probably due to the manual transmission. The motor and transmission are the originals that came with the car when it was new. The lights. turn signals. horn. back up and dash lights work properly. The tires are new. The interior is in excellent condition. The headliner is original and nice. The front seat has been reupholstered but the door panels side rear panels and rear seat are the original material. The carpets are new but originally these came with rubber floor covering. One of the rarest automobiles built during the 1950's. This Edsel Burmuda would show beautifully at any event or draw attention in any museum.
