I RESERVE THE RIGHT TO END MY LISTING EARLY! Call… 706-831-1899 Up for auction is an original 1966 Ford Mustang GT. The previous owner (Mr. Bruce) bought this GT from Quality Motors in Florence S. C. on 2-17-1971. He owned the Mustang from 1971 until now and I have the original Bill of Sale and the used vehicle warranty that he got from the dealer at that time. I also have the maintenance receipts up through the years verifying that the current mileage is 119. 58 miles… Mr. Bruce took good care of this GT over the years and the car was garage kept for almost the entire time with the exception of the occasional few nights here and there when he was out of town in the car and it stayed outside. Mr. Bruce is a retired engineer and he was meticulous with the care on his Mustang. Following is a fair and honest description of the car as I see it: Paint and Body This GT had one repaint in its original Candyapple Red color in the late 80’s. The sheet metal is all original including the bottom of the car which retains its original red oxide paint. The paint on the car is what I would describe as a 10 footer. The car looks pretty good from 10 feet away but up close it is driver quality with imperfections and small scratches in the paint. The pictures look really good that are below. however they do make the car look better than it really is as far as the paint goes. It is solid and the doors trunk and hood all shut nice and line up pretty good basically as it came off the assembly line as far as the body goes. The car has not been taken apart and it has not been wrecked. The trim and the bright work are unbelievably nice. It is almost perfect and it is original without pitting anywhere. This is a big deal because replacement trim these days are basically junk. Look at the trim in the pictures around the quarter windows and the glass and you can see that it is near perfect. This is a result of the car being kept indoors all of these years. It is probably the best condition original trim and bright work that I have seen. The wheels are original as well as the hubcaps and the tires are ok with 40-50% tread left. There are a couple of chips in the front glass and all of the glass is original and in pretty good shape other than those chips. The glass does have some small scratches and about average for original. All four windows roll up and down easy and smooth with no issues. The bottom line is great body. excellent original trim and bright work. average original glass. and sub-par paint…driver quality. Interior The interior is mostly all original and mostly in good condition. The door panels have some sagging. The headliner is tight but has one small tear that I will show on the pictures. The original carpet is faded. Now for the good…all of the lights including interior. dash lights. glove box light. exterior lights and turn signals all work like they did when they were new. The gauges work as well. The radio does not work. The fog lights do work however the original fog light switch was replaced a few years ago with a standard toggle due to the original one failing. I do have the original switch that came on the car in a box in the trunk along with a few other parts that have been replaced over the years. The dash is nice and no cracks and the steering wheel is excellent. For the most part the interior is above average for the age with the exception of the door panels and the carpet. The trunk is all original paint with the original mat and it is solid. It does have a new gas tank and I have the receipt in the paperwork for when it was done. Engine/Drivetrain The motor is the factory original 289 4-barrel that came in the car. It has not been out of the car and it has not been re-built; only serviced over the years. The carburetor on the other hand was sent off and rebuilt due to performance and choke issues. The exhaust and intake manifolds are original as well as the heads and most parts as far as that goes. It does have a new radiator and the car runs nice and cool. It still has the original bag on the fender well that has fluid in it. (Never seen that before)… The engine starts up from cold very well and it runs good for as long as you want to drive. However. once the motor is warmed up the carburetor seems to load up a little on re-start. There is also a little blow by from the bottom of the oil breather. I would probably rebuild the motor if I were going to keep it but on the other hand you could drive it like it is for a long time if you want to. The original C4 transmission shifts as smooth as glass and no issues. As I stated above the car is very tight and it basically runs. drives. and handles great. Undercarriage The underside of the car is rust free. solid. and it still has the factory red oxide paint. I did clean it underneath a little so that the pictures show what it is. It has a new brake caliper on the driver side. it has a new gas tank. and the exhaust was replaced a few years ago to factory and using the factory GT hangers that were already there of course. (I have the receipts for the work also) The brake lines are where they always have been and unique to the GT’s. It is correct underneath and it is unmolested underneath which is a rare find… This Mustang is all GT and it is a good honest car that hasn’t been cut up or rebuilt… It’s a good un!
