You are looking at a VERY RARE Factory White on Black M-code 351C-4V 1970 Ford Mustang Sportsroof with a Factory 4-speed Transmission. This car needs a restoration. but is a very solid candidate with a great performance option list and has a great original color combination!! This is an old street racer from the Upstate. NY area and spent its early days tearing up the boulevard in NE New York and Western Connecticut. You can see where they once had a Trunk Mounted Battery. Aftermarket Shifter. Larger Fuel System. Driveshaft loop. Roll Bar etc in the car at one time. All of these Drag Race items have since been removed. Once it's days as a Street Fighter and Track car were over; the Mustang found its way into a restoration shop as a filler project that never got finished. It has been sitting in indoor storage for many. many years while awaiting a Mustang enthusiast to restore it to its former glory!!This car was a retail order at the local Ford Dealer. Jack's Lyons Motors Inc. in Lyons. NY and was ordered to go fast and do it in a Plain Vanilla Wrapper! It was ordered in a very attractive yet non-descript White Top-Coat with a Black Standard interior while powered with Ford's new for 1970 M-code 351C-4V engine. nbsp;Wide Ratio Toploader 4-speed transmission. and a 3. 25 conventional rear axle. This car as ordered was like a Poor Man's Boss 302 when you look at the option list!!! This was probably ordered as an Insurance Buster!! A non-Mach 1; non-Boss 302; Plain White Mustang with a 351C-4V and a 4-speed with Disc Brakes. Competition Suspension and Quick Ratio Steering. Sure reads like a Boss 302 without the Stripes or Solid Lifters!!I have the Deluxe Marti Sheet to document it's original options and production numbers. This 1970 Ford Mustang Sportsroof was originally ordered with the following equipment:351C-4V 300hp Engine4-speed Toploader Wide Ratio Transmission3. 25 Conventional Rear AxleWhite Exterior PaintBlack Standard Vinyl Bucket Seat InteriorAM RadioF70-14 Raised White Letter TiresArgent Styled Steel WheelsColor Keyed Racing MirrorsPower Front Disc BrakesCompetition SuspensionQuick Ratio SteeringThis car while needing a restoration is a VERY SOLID platform from which to start with! The car still retains its original floors and they just need a little work up where they meet the toe boards. The Floors still have much of the original White Paint on them. The front and rear frame rails are both in very good shape and while both torque boxes are in very good condition. the passenger side will need a little work to repair some minor rust. Inside the trunk is also very solid with nice trunk floors. Overall this is a VERY SOLID car underneath!!The Sheetmetal on the car is also in very good shape with Solid Hood. Fenders. Doors. nbsp;1/4's and Decklid. There is some minor rust in a couple of spots (see pics). but again overall the sheetmetal on this car is VERY SOLID!!The interior in the car is for the most part all there. but will have to be redone. Seats are torn. Dash is cracked. Carpet is worn. etc. It is tired but usable. The original 351C-4V engine was lost long ago undoubtedly in a Street Fight of some sort!! The car is now powered by a great running well built period correct 351C engine with a few speed goodies to include an Edelbrock Aluminum Intake. Holly 4 Barrel Carburetor. Chrome Moroso Valve Covers & Air Cleaner and a set of Tubular Exhaust Headers with a pair of Cal-Turbo Mufflers. Car also has a Toploader 4-speed Transmission with a Hurst Competition Plus shifter with Hurst T-Handle. The Transmission shifts well and the clutch is very good in the car. Car has had a multitude of rear ends in it during its racing days; but is currently running a open differential with what I believe to be a 3. 00 gear in it. The car has been sitting for many years and while it does run and yard drive; it is not what I would call a 'DRIVER' at the moment; though it could be; with a weekends worth of work done to it. Brakes are a bit spongy from sitting and while the engine runs very good I am sure it could benefit from a good tuning!!This car needs a complete restoration to include body & paint. nbsp;interior trim & cosmetics as well as some mechanical attention to help get the long term storage bugs out of it. But with a desirable performance option list and Super Solid Platform such as this to start with; it makes for a very worthwhile candidate! Please look at the pictures and ask any questions BEFORE you bid!!
