Description of 1977 GMC Sierra 1500 Deluxe Chrome

One of the nicest 1970s era GM Trucks available. This is the last year of the non-catalytic California 1/2 Ton Heavy Duty GMC / Chevrolet 4x4 Pickup Trucks. If you are a California bidder you can bid with confidence as this truck is 100% smog legal and just passed its emissions test and is California licensed through November of 2018. It has a new 350 cid engine from S&J Engines Inc. of Spokane, WA - "Built To Improve, Not Just Replace". I urge you to look them up online to appreciate the quality of their engines. Note: this engine is still within the recommended break-in period. As such, it is still running on break-in oil, which will need replacing before driving long distances or in demanding conditions. The list of new components installed within the last 330 miles includes the following: 350 cid Engine (long block), Quadra-jet Carb, all fan belts, all rubber hoses, alternator, distributor, coil, ignition module, battery, water pump, fuel pump, cruise control, master cylinder, front rotors, front calipers & brake pads, rear drums, rear brake shoes, rear wheel brake cylinders, steering box, turn signal switch, fuel tank transfer solenoid valve, complete dual exhaust, back-up camera & monitor with warning beeper, weather stripping throughout. New exterior marker & tail lamps. New 1977 Chevrolet Grill ( I apologize to all GMC enthusiasts as I was unable to locate a new 1977 GMC Grill at a sensible price). New chrome body trim. New hood insulation pad & hood bumpers. The ice cold R-134 air conditioning system is new throughout including the compressor, condenser, evaporator, heater core, and blower motor, including removal of all ducting for complete cleaning. New chrome bumpers front & rear ( rear step bumper has integral high intensity back up lights ). New front and rear windshields & rubber seals. New windshield washer system & wiper blades. New GT Brand Mahogany steering wheel. 5 new all terrain tires. New AM/FM/CD/MP3 Radio with Bluetooth & remote control including dual cone high performance front and rear stereo speakers.
The automatic transmission, differentials, axles, and transfer case have been opened for inspection and repair, and are in excellent condition and functioning properly. Drive train gaskets and seals have been replaced throughout so there are no leaks. The properly functioning full-time four wheel drive transfer case provides the following operating ranges: Low Lock, Low, Neutral, High, High Lock. This truck is completely solid with not rust damage or pitting anywhere. All gauges, electronics and lights are functioning properly. The elevated off-road suspension system was cleaned and inspected with replacement bushings and parts installed as needed. New gas tanks, sending units and lines had been installed prior to my acquisition of this truck. Camera inspection of these tanks indicated them to be extremely clean.
The interior was restored four years ago, so some scratches and imperfections will be found due to the many times it has been entered for completion and repair of the vehicle. ( Had I realized in the beginning that I would eventually decide to do a complete restoration, I would have left the interior restoration for the end of the process ). Nevertheless, it still looks exceptional and even retains its new car smell. The interior features beautiful solid oak door and passenger side dash panels finished in marine grade spar varnish. During the restoration, the entire interior was removed down to the metal. The floor received two layers of insulation prior to the carpet installation. A new headliner was installed but subsequently has begun to wrinkle and separate in spots; This can be seen in the photos. The edge piping on the driver's side of the seat has pulled away where the driver enters and exits the cab. Polished Aluminum steps have been installed to allow the occupants to enter and exit, without sliding over the piping, which caused it to pull away in the first place. The seat seam itself is not tearing or opening up.
At the time of listing the windshield wipers would not "park" in the down position as they should, requiring the operator to turn them off at the moment they are in the "park" position. I have a new wiper motor on back-order. If it does not arrive in time to be installed. I will rebate the buyer $100 for installation labor and ship the motor to the buyer. The hazard lights do flash as they should but the hazard switch ( mounted on the steering column ) does not remain engaged without being held in the "ON" position. I have been unable to locate a new switch, so I have fabricated a Velcro strap that can be easily wrapped around the column to hold the switch button in the 'ON" position.
The base coat / clear coat Mahogany Brown Metallic Paint is 6 months old and is spectacular in appearance and quality, costing over $7,000. Receipt and warranty documents for the paint will be provided to the buyer. Original GMC Owner's Manual and Radio Manual will also be provided. In addition, California Emissions and Registration Documentation will also be provided.
Restoring vintage vehicles is my hobby. I am not a professional restorer. I buy something that appeals to me and enjoy watching it come back to its prior glory. I usually drive a restoration for a year or so and then sell it to fund my next restoration. Unfortunately for me, I must forego the "driving and showing" portion as I find it necessary( for personal reasons ) to recover as much of my investment as possible. Most of the time, I end up losing money on a restoration, which will clearly be the case with this beautiful truck. I mention this to let you know that the reserve price is set at a level where the buyer will be receiving a great truck at an even greater price. I have California Emissions and Registration documents verifying that this truck has been driven just over 325 miles since I took ownership. During this time, it has been driven regularly to break-in the new engine and keep all systems lubricated and operating properly. This is one of my finer restorations, and it looks and drives beautifully, plus it has modern conveniences like Bluetooth and Video monitoring. You can own this truck at half the new truck price and people will give you thumbs up, everywhere you go. In addition, vintage trucks are very popular and keep increasing in value.
The buyer will be provided with manufacturer warranty papers where available, however, they may not be transferable to the new owner. This vehicle is sold strictly "AS-IS" with no warranty either expressed or implied. The odometer reading was 02412 at the time of listing. It clearly has "rolled over" at least once in the last 40 years, but I was not given any history information from the previous owner, so the actual mileage should be considered unknown. The buyer is responsible for making all shipping arrangements, however, I will assist the transport company in coordinating pick-up time and location. I am located near the Los Angeles Harbor and would be willing to transport this vehicle to a shipper in the area for overseas transport. I encourage bidders to make an appointment to view and drive this vehicle to truly appreciate how nice it is. Call: 310-874-0648 to make an appointment or ask questions. I also respond to all eBay messages.
