Description of 1974 Honda Civic

This 1974 Honda Civic is finished in brown over black vinyl upholstery and powered by a 1,233cc inline-four paired with a four-speed manual transaxle. Additional equipment includes 13″ steel wheels, a vented hood, chrome-finished bumpers with overriders, front disc brakes, a wood-rimmed steering wheel, and a heater. The car was acquired by the current owner in December 2017, and recent service is said to have included performing an oil change as well as flushing the brake fluid. This Civic is now offered by the seller on half of the current owner with an owner’s manual, a maintenance booklet, a repair manual, and a clean California title in the owner’s name.

The car is finished in brown and is said to have received bodywork and a repaint under prior ownership. Exterior details include a roof-mounted antenna, a left mirror, a lockable fuel filler door, pop-out rear quarter windows, replacement bumpers, and reverse lights mounted below the rear bumper. A crack in the paint on the hood and other paint blemishes can be viewed in the gallery below.

Silver-finished 13″ steel wheels with Honda-logo center caps wear bright trim rings and are mounted with 175/70 Doral DSL 70 A tires. Stopping is handled by front disc and rear drum brakes. The seller states that the right-rear shock is blown and in need of replacement. The brake fluid was flushed recently, according to the seller.

The interior features front bucket seats upholstered in black vinyl with gray inserts, joined by a color-coordinated dashboard accented by woodgrain appliqué. Appointments include a folding rear bench, a heater, and rear storage pockets. The headliner shows stains and tears, cracks are visible in the dashboard, various trim pieces are missing, the radio is removed, and wiring is visible in the center storage tray.

The wood-rimmed three-spoke steering wheel fronts Nippon Seiki gauges consisting of a 100-mph speedometer and a tachometer. Auxiliary readouts for coolant temperature and fuel level are mounted at the center of the dashboard. The five-digit mechanical odometer shows 65k miles, approximately 1,000 of which were added under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.

The 1,237cc EB2 inline-four is equipped with a single carburetor as well as an electronic ignition system and was factory rated at 63 horsepower and 77 lb-ft of torque. Recent service included an oil change.

Power is sent to the front wheels via a four-speed manual transaxle. The seller notes rust on the underside components, and additional underbody photos are provided in the gallery below.

An owner’s manual will accompany the car, along with a maintenance booklet and a shop manual.
