The 1971 Scout 800B is a rare item. It is the last of the 800 series and was only available for eight months (1970-71).

Very few were sold. It has the largest engine and represents the final advancements of the legendary 800 series. This is the right Scout to buy.
Be aware that most earlier Scouts (fully restored or not), have lowdisplacementmotors coupled with 3 speed manual transmissions. Those vehicles are not realistically useable on the modern highway.
Conversely, this 1971 Scout 800B has a huge amount ofpower mated to a great four speed transmission and loves the road- highways included.Brakes and steering are excellent. This is very rare even for a restored Scout.

Issues: This is a great running driving and looking vehicle but is not a fullrest/show car. I would take it over most restorations I've seenbecause the RIGHT work has been done and done well. Here are the issues that I'm aware of:-The tires are full tread but expired. Due to the large number of options regarding wheels/hubcaps/rims I am going to let the next owner choose the new tires.I have discounted the price accordingly.- Aparking lot nudgeoccurred affecting the left rear corner of the vehicle. I've played this game with many people: "there is some damage on some part of thebody, find it". Not one single person has found it until I point it out. To me that means its something to handle the next time you paint thevehicle.- Gauges: gasgauge and speedo/odometer non-op. I'd guess the miles are not too far from the stated reading of 75,777. This is a clean truck.
This is a phenomenal truck. Ibelieve you will be very very happy with the purchase.Test drive welcome. You will not bedissapointed.
