Description of 1970 International Harvester Scout 800A |
This is a rare clean example of a 1970 International Scout 800A 4x4 Traveltop 4-196 that has been refreshed to be a showcase of its utilitarian driving experience for years to come. This car, and all the work done, has been featured on a popular automotive television series. There is a cult following with these utilitarian American made SUV's. The 800 model was made from 1965 to 1971 and was intended to be direct competition for Jeep and Bronco. Easy to maintain and very reliable, these vintage SUV's are often seen navigating the streets, mountains, and beaches of California. This Scout in particular was a Military order, with many rare options, like sliding rear windows, and factory front brush guard. Thorough work has just been completed on this example including: full custom paint job in Aston Martin California Sage Green/Cream, new interior upholstery, newly rebuilt transfer case, newly rebuilt transmission, new carburetor, new driveshaft, new exhaust, new front/rear axle seals, new U-joints, new front/rear brake shoes/drums, electric wiper conversion, new water pump, new taillight lenses, new weather striping, new emblems, and new wheels. Brand new Pathfinder tires are outfitted to the car as well. This Scout runs and drives excellently, and will make for a great classic adventure SUV, while turning heads at the same time. Original Line Ticket is available for viewing upon request It is truly a must see for any Scout enthusiast. |
