Description of 1963 International Harvester Scout

1963 International Scout 80. This is an all original black California plate Scout 80 that still has the original paint and vinyl on the front seats. As you can see it is in amazing condition. It has been garaged its entire life and has spent its entire life in Glendora CA. The original owner passed away and the title was transferred to his brother’s name and then I bought it from him. I am confident the Scout only has an original 52k miles on it due to notations on the dash board about oil changes that I have not cleaned off as well as the overall condition of the truck. The original owner mostly drove it to a local gun range each week and around town a bit. There is no rust on the truck. There are a few spots under the mats on both sides that had some surface rust spots noted by the paint being gone that I have cleaned up and I have some good close ups of those areas. I did not repair or paint over anything. I have the original line setting ticket as shown in the photos. It had a dealer add on warn overdrive and also the spot light which I removed but have to go with it. Neither are on the LST. It is the 4 cylinder 152 and a 3 speed manual with the overdrive. The only things I have done to it are new clutch slave and master. new brakes all around. rebuilt carb. new fuel pump and switched out the oil bath air cleaner to an air filter as well as regular maintenance. I still have all the original oil bath stuff. The rear seat has been reupholstered so it doesn’t have the white insert but it is in great condition. It has both gas tanks but I have only been using the driver’s side tank. The fuel gauge does not work and I put a new sending unit in which didn’t fix it so it is likely the gauge itself. It starts runs and drives amazingly well and will easily do 70 on the freeway as long as you aren’t trying to climb a hill. To my knowledge and the brother’s knowledge. nothing has ever been rebuilt in it. The tires are new and only have 500 miles on them and are mounted on the original rims. I am fairly certain the spare tire is the original tire which is what was on all 5 rims when I bought it. It has a second set of rims and tires that come with it which are the Scout II rally wheels which is what was on it when I bought it. I switched to the original rims because I prefer the look. No hub cabs nor are they listed on the LST. I have the new spring bushings to install but haven’t done it yet. The emergency brake was working but kinked a few months ago so it isn’t working. It needs to be removed and the kink worked out of it since you can’t buy new cables anymore. It drives really well without any shimmy or shake at all. Shifts well and runs really well. There are a few slow leaks in various places which is to be expected. I have been driving it daily for the past 6 months with no issues at all and the only time it stranded me was when I ran out of gas. This is a one of a kind. original condition Scout 80 and probably one of the cleanest unrestored Scouts still in existence. The paint is incredibly smooth to the touch with no oxidation at all. There is one small dent on the rear corner as shown in the photos and a few scratches. Windshield wipers and heater both work great. Radio works. Window and windshield seals are original. It is missing the ashtray. This Scout has both front and rear power lock axles as noted on the line setting ticket. I have had it off road a couple of times locally. Mainly dirt roads with steep climbs. No crawling. It does fantastic. I welcome any serious buyers to come and view it in person. I can provide additional high res photos as needed. This is a true auction with no reserve. It is not listed locally and I will not sell it outside of ebay so if you bid and win. it is a contract and you will lose your deposit if you don’t end up buying it. It is sold AS IS which means make sure you know what you are buying before you buy it. Required $500 deposit at close of bidding and balance to be paid by cash or certified funds within 7 days. Good luck and you will love this Scout.
