Description of 1977 International Harvester Scout |
Up for auction is a 1977 International Scout Traveler Midas Conversion. This is a NO reserve auction. This Scout is a project and will need a total restoration. First the good. This is a true Midas Traveler (Tan Family Cruiser) as you can see from the Line Set Ticket. 1977 was the first year for the Midas and were limited editions. They were the top of the line! Some of the options on her are: 345 ci engine. Auto transmission. & 354 gears. A/C. swivel front bucket seats. rear captain’s chairs. shag carpet. Midas headliner. door panels. and rear carpeted interior. & an AM/FM radio to name a few. The best part about this Scout is its unmolested and all there. Nobody has tampered with it and its all original. The interior is in really good condition and again complete. The not so good. It needs a lot of work. I’m storing the Scout in a storage unit in MN where it was purchased to keep the rust at a minimum. She was kept outside for many years and has accumulated rust. It will need to be towed to the new owner! She really needs a good bath to see exactly what needs to be done and find the extent of the body work it would entail to get her road worthy. The top and windshield frame look to be very solid. the scout has never been in an accident and is very straight. But. the MN winters have taken a toll on the lower body. It will need inner/outer rockers. 1/4 panels. and I'm pretty sure front floors. The frame is solid but has rust. heavier from the center and rear showing pitting. The tow truck driver said that the frame made no groaning or creaking noises when placed on the truck. so that’s was good news. She hasn’t run since being parked so it should have all fluids gone through and replaced before trying to start her. The front drivers side wheel is locked. I believe that the caliper has frozen and tire is flat and there are no keys. New key and ignition cylinder are necessary. Again. this is a project; you can’t drive this or expect to start this Scout before doing a good bit of work on her. This would be a great father / son project on a classic and rare vehicle if you’re up for it. Please DO NOT hesitate to ask as many questions as you would like and there are NO dumb questions. Thanks for looking and Happy bidding. |
